Blackpink fans have been left buzzing after learning K-pop star Lisa gained an interesting new fan on Instagram following her acting debut on The White Lotus.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is now officially following Lisa on the platform – and her loyal fans were of course excited to learn the news. 

Lisa – real name Lalisa Manobal – is a member of the wildly successful K-pop group Blackpink, but has now expanded her wings into Hollywood with a role on the latest season of The White Lotus. 

She already boasts 105 million followers on Instagram.  

Immediately, fans went into overdrive as they praised Lisa’s acting abilities in addition to speculating what the new following could all mean.

But as it turns out, there is a reason why Lisa, 27, attracted the Oscar’s attention on Instagram – she’s set to perform at the Academy Awards this weekend.

The Academy announced Monday that Lisa will be among the star-studded performers hitting the stage this upcoming weekend, with Doja Cat, Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, Queen Latifah and RAYE also unveiled as performers.

‘Doja Cat, Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, LISA of Blackpink, Queen Latifah and RAYE will participate in showstopping performances celebrating the filmmaking community and some of its legends,’ a press release announced.

The Los Angeles Master Chorale will also be making a special appearance at the awards show, it was also announced.

Fans learned of Lisa’s latest follower via the X account BuzzingPop, which shared the news online. 

The news of her upcoming performance may have broken after the X account noted her new Instagram fan, as most fans were thrilled their beloved rapper was gaining Oscar recognition (at least on Instagram).

‘Lisa’s acting gagging everyone, The Academy included,’ one wrote.

‘Omgg!! Something big is coming,’ one wrote.

‘She did great so no wonder,’ another posted.

‘they saw her acting debut and were stunned,’ another wrote.  

One successfully predicted Lisa’s performance: ‘What if she does a surprise performance for born again at the Oscar’s,’ they wrote.

Lisa plays a character on the hit series named Mook, who works in The White Lotus resort in Thailand as a ‘health consultant’.

The Academy is now among Lisa’s 105M followers on Instagram

At the premiere earlier this month, she gushed to Variety: ‘I don’t know what to feel right now. I’m just so excited. I can’t wait for all of you guys to watch this show.’

She continued: ‘It is my first acting [experience] so I don’t know what to expect on set’ but everybody just being so supportive helped me a lot. So thank you, everyone.’

Remarking on her her first day of filming, she admitted to feeling ‘so nervous’ and ‘sweating’.

‘I was like, “I can’t remember my lines”,’ she revealed. ‘I’m blanked.’

Speaking to Elle about the project over the summer, Lisa branded director Mike White a ‘genius’ – and said she ‘cried’ after learning she got the part.

‘I was with my friends, my mom’s friends, and my mom as well, but I didn’t tell them that I auditioned for it,’ she admitted.

‘I’m super excited and nervous, because it’s my first acting project. So I was happy for a second, and then I was like, “Oh, wait, wait, how am I going to deliver this?”

‘It’s pretty new to me, but I think it’s similar to shooting music videos…I’m excited for my fans to see it.

‘I feel like people are going to fall in love with Thailand even more.’
