Kylie Minogue has received a commemorative star recognising her phenomenal  success entertaining crowds at Melbourne Park.

The beloved pop princess first took to the stage at Rod Laver Arena (previously the National Tennis Centre) back in 1990.

Since then she’s played a whopping 33 shows at the venue, and sold more than 386,000 tickets. 

The star was unveiled by Melbourne Park CEO, John Harnden, and is located in the forecourt of Rod Laver Arena adjacent to the statue of the late Michael Gudinski. 

‘It’s hard to believe it’s been 35 years since I first stepped on stage at this venue, and I’m honoured to be acknowledged in this way in my hometown of Melbourne,’ Minogue said.

‘It seems appropriate that MG will be watching over my star each day,’ Minogue said.

The Aussie pop queen is currently wowing crowds with her Tension tour – a nostalgic ride through her biggest hits, all while flanked by futuristic backup dancers and an elaborate stage production.

The tour, which celebrates her 16th studio album of the same name, has already cemented itself as a must-see spectacle, with Kylie once again proving why she remains one of Australia’s most beloved musical icons.

Tension’s lead single Padam Padam has been a smash-hit in the US, with many praising its catchiness and hook.

It won the inaugural Best Pop Dance Recording award at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards in February.

Kylie screamed with joy on the night when it was revealed she had won her first Grammy in 18 years and her second overall.

Tension owed much of its success to TikTok where Padam Padam went viral, proving the importance of social media in modern releases.

Kylie addressed her chart comeback on social media at the time, thanking fans for their support.

‘I can’t thank you enough. My heart is bursting with joy so thank you so so much,’ she gushed.

Die-hard Kylie fans have praised her latest stage spectacular. 

‘The best night!! Have been to all the Kylie concerts for over 20 years now with my mama and sister and we loved every minute,’ one fan exclaimed.

‘Can’t believe the energy still after all these years. You’re a QUEEN.’
