Britney Spears has covered her father’s legal bills as part of the legal agreement over a dispute about her 13-year conservatorship.

The pop singer, 43, who has rekindled her romance with ex-felon Paul Soliz, paid $2.12 million to settle the debt of her dad Jamie Spears, 71. 

Court documents obtained by People provided the breakdown for the fees, which were paid after father and daughter reached the settlement in February 2024 in Los Angeles Superior Court.

The settlement called from all disputes in connection with the conservatorship proceedings be resolved.

Additionally, neither party concedes to  any ‘admission of fact, claim, liability or wrongdoing.’

All parties, via counsel, ‘mutually participated in the preparation and drafting of the agreement and waived the rights to an appeal.’

‘It was a great result for Britney because it also avoided the possibility of ever having her testify in court, which she did not want to do, and avoided a media circus,’ a source familiar with the settlement told the outlet.

Jamie took control of his oldest daughter’s life and finances in 2008 after some highly publicized mental health struggles.

It began as a temporary arrangement, but became permanent by the end of the year.

In the years that followed, Britney was deemed well enough to work in what the former estate conservator called a ‘hybrid business model’ in court papers, but not well enough to control her personal life.

The estate controlled who her friends were, where she could go and ‘logged her every purchase down to a drink from Starbucks,’ according to The New York Times.

Britney also told the court she had been forced to use birth control and take medication against her will.

During one court appearance, she told the judge, ‘Ma’am, my dad and anyone involved in this conservatorship, and my management, who played huge roles in punishing me when I said “No” [to going on tour] — Ma’am, they should be in jail.’

 After the details of the settlement were discovered, Britney’s former attorney,  Mathew S. Rosengart, couldn’t be reached for comment, however, the Toxic singer was paid a recent visit by her former counsel and shared the moment on social media. 

A source said the outcome meant the Toxic singer would not have to testify in court and ‘avoid a media circus’  (Pictured in Los Angeles in February 2018)

Britney’s attorney, Mathew S. Rosengart, provided not statement regarding the settlement. However, the artist shared video from a recent visit with her former counsel on social media calling him ‘Such a winner’

‘It’s been way too long since I’ve seen him!!! OMG OMG OMG!!! It was such an incredible day !!! I am blessed and got a book,’ she said of the meeting.

‘He showed me up with his suit!!! I will be in heels next time,’ claimed the singer who was wearing an orange blouse and a white mini-skirt. 

The hitmaker shared a that she thought pH๏τos were being sH๏τ, when the person documenting the meeting actually sH๏τ a video. She ended the post calling her former attorney, ‘Such a winner.’ 

Jamie’s lawyer, Alex M. Weingarten, told the publication, ‘Jamie is thrilled that the case was settled. He has only ever wanted what is best for Britney, whom he loves very much. Jamie’s work as conservator has ultimately been vindicated and the world knows how hard he worked to protect her.’
