The Traitors winner Leanne Quigley has revealed that her fiancée Sophie Jones’ recent breast cancer battle felt like an ‘out of body experience’.
The former soldier, 29, recently sH๏τ to fame on the BBC show, with herself and fellow Faithful Jake Brown winning the £94,600 prize fund.
However, just weeks after returning home after filming, her life was turned upside down when Sophie was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer, following the discovery of a lump in her breast which rapidly grew.
And despite Sophie – whom she shares two-year-old twins Hudson and Harley with – getting the all-clear earlier this year, Leanne still recalls the ‘terrifying’ fear she felt that Sophie wouldn’t survive the ordeal.
In a candid new interview, Leanne opened up on the tough time for their young family, remembering the two-week wait to see if Sophie’s cancer had spread as her darkest moment.
Remarking how the whole thing felt like an ‘out of body experience’, Leanne told The Mirror: ‘We didn’t know if she’d live. It was utterly terrifying. Sophie was saying every day, “I don’t want to die, Leanne… I want to see our babies grow up”. It was the fear of the unknown.’

Meanwhile during the chat, Sophie, 32, told how she felt ‘guilty’ for not being able to spend quality time with their boys, who were conceived via IVF, with the debilitating effects of chemotherapy often leaving her bedbound.
Leanne added of the situation: ‘She had to build a relationship again with them. But we both said, if we hadn’t had the twins, life would have been very dark. They kept us going.’
Sophie’s ordeal saw her undergoing only five of her six planned chemo sessions as she wasn’t strong enough for the last one, with the fellow army recruit recalling ‘several blood transfusions’ and a ‘lumpectomy on Xmas Eve’ as part of her treatment.
Luckily, in January this year, Sophie was given the all-clear, and following two weeks of a preventative radiotherapy course, she’ll hopeful get to ‘ring the bell’ on March 5.
With the health battle now behind them, the couple are now concentrating on plans for their big wedding, with Sophie having proposed to Leanne in August last year just days after her first chemo session.
Meanwhile, their twins are also keeping them on their toes and the couple are firmly embracing everyday family life, with Leanne noting that ‘life’s not been normal’ of late.
She added: ‘We’ve had so many moments when our lives were ripped apart – the last two years have been horrific, aside from The Traitors. So we want to make the most of every moment.’
While Sophie noted that after everything they’ve been through, including the cancer and the difficult start to the twins lives amid their premature birth, they now feel ‘unbreakable’.
