Tate McRae is back with brand new music. 

The Canadian pop star released her third studio album So Close To What on Friday, February 21, along with a music video for the new song Revolving Door, which is listed as the third track.

In the raunchy video, directed by Aerin Moreno, the singer-songwriter is dressed in skimpy white shorts and matching crop top in another impressive dance performance.

In a new Instagram post, she called the clip ‘one of my favorite videos out now to my song revolving door,’ before revealing that ‘all 15 doors [represent] each track on the album.’

She added, ‘This video means so much to me. We put our blood sweat tears and 11 hours in these pumps into this video hahahah.’

The clip kicks off by showing the Exes star’s backside while walking out of darkened hallway papered with images of herself, before a door opens into an all-white room with several other doors.

The door shuts momentarily and then transitions to the bright white studio, leading to the subtle musical opening.

The camera slowly pans up from her white pumps to her face just as she begins verse one of the song that seemingly references an ex.

She confesses: ‘My cold heart is finally melting,’ in the first melody, which leads to the chorus of the evocative release.

‘Baby I tried to call you off like a bad habit / But I keep coming back like a revolving door / Say I couldn’t want you less, but I just want you more,’ she sings, all while sharing her moves with four ladies dressed in the exact same ensemble.

In a surprising show of emotion, McRae ends the high-octane routine by breaking down in tears while laying on the floor.

In fact, the One Day star could be heard weeping right after the music fades, eventually showing the tears falling down her face when she partially rises to her knees.  

In support of So Close To What, the 21-year-old performer embarked on the Miss Possessive Tour, which span 56 dates across North America, South America and Europe.

The promotional push for the new album kicked-off with the It’s OK I’m OK single on September 12, 2024.

The song debuted at number 20 on the US Billboard H๏τ 100 chart, marking McRae’s highest debuting single at the time. 

2 Hands was released as the second single on November 14, peaking at number 41 on the H๏τ 100 and number 22 on the Canadian H๏τ 100. 

The third promotional song off the album, Sports Car, was released in late January, resulting in another hit at number 21 on the H๏τ 100.

In support of So Close To What, McRae embarked on the Miss Possessive Tour, which span 56 dates across North America, South America and Europe; she’s pictured in LA on Feb. 20

McRae first gained prominence as the first Canadian finalist on the American reality television series So You Think You Can Dance (2016).

She would go on to sign a deal with RCA Records the following year following the success she had with her debut song One Day.

Before dropping her second EP Too Young To Be Sad (2021), the singer-songwriter scored You Broke Me First scored a hit with the single You Broke Me First, which peaked within the top ten of the Canadian H๏τ 100 and at number 17 on the US Billboard H๏τ 100. 

The Calgary, Alberta, Canada native previous released the albums I Used to Think I Could Fly (2022), and Think Later (2023), which were both hits in a number of countries, including the US, Canada and the UK.
