Ariana Grande confesses she likes to play virtual Monopoly online with strangers

It turns out pop superstar Ariana Grande likes to play Monopoly online with complete strangers.

The singer-songwriter and actress revealed that she likes to take her tablet with her when she’s traveling or waiting around at work, and has since gained some status playing the virtual version of the classic board game.

‘I have my iPad when I’m traveling and when I’m waiting on set or whatever, I like to play games.’ she confessed as part of Vogue’s What’s In My Bag? series.

‘I play a lot of Monopoly online with strangers. It’s die-hard, I think I’m on level 80, I believe. I’m not kidding.’

She added, ‘I would say it’s mostly for Monopoly and my virtual farm.’

The segment begins with the two-time Grammy winner showing off her black Loewe bag, which she said is ‘meant for business,’ before admitting ‘for busy days it can really hold a lot of stuff.’

Monopoly has become a part of international popular culture, having been licensed locally in more than 113 countries and printed in more than 46 languages dating back to 1935.

During the segment she also revealed other items in the bag include her phone, black earmuffs to stay warm, Ricola cough drops, two different kinds of headphones, lavender oil, and her very own fragrance MOD Vanilla, and a couple of vegan snack bars.

The Wicked star also revealed she has a little gift in her bag that was presented to her from an adoring fan.

‘This is actually a lovely little thing that a fan gave to me at the Wicked premiere in LA,’ she shared.

‘He was so sweet, he gave me this little tiny book called Ari’s Pick-Me-Ups and I thought that was the cutest thing in the world.’

The keepsake apparently is full of drawings and quotes relating to the hit film that earned her a Best Supporting Actress Oscar nomination.

‘They’re just random quotes that are just so uplifting and sweet, and one of the pages says “Toss, toss” with bubbles that he drew everywhere, next to a quote from [director] Jon M. Chu.’

Obviously moved by the present she added, ‘I thought it was really cute, and it is tiny so I do keep it with me.’

The musical fantasy film, co-starring Cynthia Erivo, has been a huge hit at the box office, grossing $727.9 million worldwide against a budget of $150 million since its release in late November.

Written by Winnie Holzman and Dana Fox, the theatrical version adapts the first act of the 2003 stage musical by Stephen Schwartz and Holzman, which was loosely based on Gregory Maguire’s 1995 novel.

It has since received a mᴀssive amount of accolades, including 10 Oscar nominations such as Best Picture, Best Actress for Enviro, as well as Grande’s nod.

The 97th Academy Awards are scheduled to be held on March 2 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.

Erivo and Grande will also slip back into the shoes of Elphaba Thropp and Galinda ‘Glinda’ Upland for Wicked: For Good, the sequel to Wicked, which is scheduled to premiere in theaters on November 21.
