Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson have pledged $1M to Los Angeles fire relief after their home narrowly avoided by the blaze back in January.

On Friday, the 68-year-old actor and his wife took to Instagram to share joint statement expressing their condolences to fire victims and thanking first responders. 

Aiding the Palisades and Eaton Fire impacted residents in moving forward, the pair of nearly 37-years shared that are distributing a total of $1M to five different organizations.

Of those, include the Motion Picture and Television Fund, the Los Angeles Fire Foundation, SAG-AFTRA Foundation Disaster Relief Fund, the American Red Cross and MusiCares.

‘Hey friends. Like so many of us, we see the loss and devastation wrought by the Altadena and Palisades fires. The challenge of the future of these communities is immense,’ they penned.

‘We are so very grateful for the first responders and firefighters, from all over, who fought with all they had in order to save homes and people.’

The duo continued: ‘Now we must all move forward to what is next for our city, communities, and neighbors. We are donating $1 million between the following organizations to help support those in need and those who aided.’

Urging the public to donate to the cause, they added, ‘If you can, please join us in donating. Everything helps, right?’

The Toy Story voice actor and the Sleepless in Seattle actress join various other A-list stars who pledged their own funds to lift up other fire victims, including the likes of Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Paris Hilton, The Weeknd and Beyoncé.

Hanks and Wilson’s generous offer to the City of Angels comes after various celebrities lost their stunning multi-million dollar mansions due to the Pacific Palisades and Hollywood Hills fires last month.

Tragically, the homes of Anthony Hopkins, Anna Faris, Paris Hilton, Candy Spelling, Heidi Montag, John Goodman and Miles Teller were lost in the flames.

Including the Forrest Gump star’s abode, Rebel Wilson, Tom Brady, Chris Pratt, Dan Aykroyd, Steven Spielberg and Jennifer Love Hewitt’s mansions were narrowly saved from being burning down.

The Castaway actor’s very large white modern mansion located on a cliff in the Pacific Palisades was pictured dangerously close to a fire, before the blaze was put out just in time.

The home above it did fall to the flames, confused by the enormous wildfire.

Luckily, Hanks’ $26M property looked fine with barely a mark on it. There was not even debris on his roof or wide green lawn.

In a press release shared today, Mayor Karen Bᴀss fired LA Fire Chief Kristin Crowley effective immediately, following Crowley’s dismissal of 1,000 firefighters the day the fires broke out.

‘Acting in the best interests of Los Angeles’ public safety, and for the operations of the Los Angeles Fire Department, I have removed Kristin Crowley as Fire Chief,’ Bᴀss said.

‘We know that 1,000 firefighters that could have been on duty on the morning the fires broke out were instead sent home on Chief Crowley’s watch.’

Bᴀss, 71, has since appointed 41-year LAFD veteran and former Chief Deputy Ronnie Villanueva as Interim Fire Chief.
