90s rock star reveals he lost two TOES amid health battle… as he shares gruesome snap for fans

Bowling For Soup guitarist Chris Burney revealed he has lost two toes, as he shared a new health update with his Instagram fans on Tuesday.

The legendary 90s rock star, 55, posted a gruesome image of his left foot with two of his toes missing.

‘I’m a Free-nubbin, ʙuтт-rubbin son of a gun,’ he wrote in the caption.

The rocker did not reveal how the injury happened.

He also shared a selfie of himself relaxing on his sofa with his tongue playfully sticking out.

It comes after the band announced his retirement last month, after 30 years, with a statement that cited ‘recent medical developments’ among the reasons for his decision.

After temporarily stepping back from the Texas group last summer due to a leg injury, the musician also missed their Download Festival 2024 performance.

Last month the band shared a statement about his retirement, as they announced that he would not be joining them on their UK 20th anniversary tour A Hangover You Don’t Deserve.

In a message to fans on Instagram, they revealed that they will be carrying on as they have been and have no plans to replace him.

‘It is with a heavy heart we announce that Chris Burney has made the decision to retire from his stage-right post in the band he co-founded in 1994,’ the group wrote in a social media statement.

‘Some recent medical developments, 30 years of rocking balls and touring non-stop have made it difficult to continue. We are bummed to not have Chris by our sides, but absolutely support his decision.’

They went on to state: ‘The future of Bowling For Soup remains bright.’

‘The three of us will carry on, with Chris’ blessing, and continue to build the legacy of this band we all love so much. We will not be replacing Chris or touring with a touring guitarist. You cannot replace a legend. We were brothers when we started this journey… and brothers we remain.’

Bowling for Soup was formed in Wichita Falls, TX, in 1994 by Jaret Reddick (lead vocals/guitar), Burney, Lance Morrill (drums), and Erik Chandler (bᴀss). Morrill left the band in 1994 (though he later returned for occasional tours), and Chandler departed in 2018.

Over the years the rockers have released numerous albums, including Bowling for Soup, Rock on Honorable Ones!!, Let’s Do It For Johnny!!, and most recently Pop Drunk Snot Bread.

Aside from Girl All the Bad Guys Want, they are best known for singles 1985, Almost and High School Never Ends.

Speaking about Burney’s decision to retire, frontman Jaret told K! last month: ‘He and I started this band 30 years ago, almost 31 now, and at one point, he was kind of the face of the band.

‘I can’t say it enough: we we wouldn’t be us, or where we are, without him.

‘We’re very thankful for all the time that he put in. The guy retires a legend. There’s something to be said for that.’

The band just wrapped up their A Hangover You Don’t Deserve tour in the UK.

They will next be performing in Las Vegas at The Space on April 19.
