Turns out, she knew very early on that she had that special something.
‘In my life, I’ve always felt like a celebrity, long before I was famous,’ said the the TikTok star turned singer and actress.
‘I’ve always loved the idea of being on stage, performing, and I grew up dancing,’ the He’s All That actress said.
‘It made sense to turn to music and acting, because it’s an integral part of being a dancer.’

In the interview for Vogue, the star revealed that she dreamt of becoming a pop sensation and a famous performer singer she was a child. She noted that her background as a dancer made her career path even clearer.

Recalling her first dance memory, she shared: ‘One day, my mother and I walked past a dance studio with a sign that said: Sign up! I begged her, she signed me up, and from the first minute I knew I loved it.’

The Lafayette, Louisiana native also dished on the ‘negative connotation’ surrounding the ‘influencer’ тιтle and what her advice would be for aspiring content creators.
‘You have to get up early to influence me,’ she quipped. ‘That word does have a negative connotation, as if it’s less valuable than being an artist. But, in the end, artists influence too. So, basically, why not consider every inspirational person as an… influencer?’
Rae also commented on the United States nationwide TikTok ban that briefly took effect last month after ByteDance refused to sell TikTok to an American company.
The app went offline in the US the evening of January 18, 2025 before it was restored to service hours later with a pop-up thanking then President-elect Donald Trump for his ‘efforts’ not to enforce the ban.
‘It was Donald Trump who created the problem in the first place,’ the star declared. ‘He was the cause of the blockage. I remember, the first time I heard about a possible ban of the app, it was around 2020. I was worried.
‘Of course, I’m glad the network survived.’
Later in the interview, Rae thanked her ‘favorite’ designers including Alexander McQueen, Daniel Roseberry and Norma Kamali, before claiming that she ‘worship[s]’ Marc Jacobs.
