The White Lotus fans have ‘rumbled’ a major twist for ‘incestuous’ Ratliff family after spotting a baffling crossover with a huge Netflix crime series.
Viewers of the HBO series have been left pretty freaked out by Patrick Schwarzenegger’s full-frontal scene in the first episode of the brand new series – which has inferred that there could be a potential incestuous storyline.
The moment involved Lochlan (Sam Nivola) watching his brother Saxon (Patrick Schwarzenegger) in the toilet while he was totally naked.
Mum Victoria (Parker Posey), dad Timothy (Jason Isaacs), and their kids Lochlan, Saxon and Piper (Sarah Catherine Hook) have raised a few eyebrows.
And now some fans think they know why they picked their specific surname.
In 2018, Netflix released a documentary called The Staircase to explore the death of Kathleen Peterson, which happened in Durham, North Carolina, back in 2001.

In 2018, Netflix released a documentary called The Staircase to explore the death of Kathleen Peterson, which happened in Durham, North Carolina, back in 2001
It followed on from Jean-Xavier de Lestrade’s previous eight episodes in 2004, and another two in 2011.
Then in 2022 an American series based on the documentary called The Staircase premiered on HBO.
Colin Firth, Toni Collette, Michael Stuhlbarg, Dane DeHaan and Olivia DeJonge star in it.
But Kathleen isn’t the only woman who was found ᴅᴇᴀᴅ at the bottom of a staircase with a connection to Michael.
Elizabeth Ratliff and Michael grew close and would regularly hang out with Elizabeth’s husband George, and Michael’s wife Patty.
She was found ᴅᴇᴀᴅ at the bottom of her stairs aged 43 in 1985, two years after her husband George’s death.
Michael and Patty decided to take in their children as their own, but after they split up, Michael took their daughters to the US and later met Kathleen Peterson.
Many have rushed to X, formerly known as Twitter, to point out the similarities between the story and the new family starring in White Lotus.

White Lotus fans flocked to X, formerly known as Twitter, to say the same thing
One wrote: ‘I have this theory that the “RATLIFF” family in #TheWhiteLotus is a nod to The Staircase’s Ratliff/Peterson blended family saga. Mike White def. watched P. Schwarz in it and got inspired. Maybe the siblings aren’t blood-related, and there’s a secret about how family came together.’
Another replied: ‘Ratcliffs from Durham, North Carolina as well..’
A third chimed in: ‘crazy family on the white lotus being named the Ratliffs….. folks that’s one’s for the staircase heads!’
A fourth replied to them: ‘Ohh s** and they were from Durham too weren’t they??’
A fifth said: ‘The Carolina accents too omg how did I not connect the dots.’
‘And from Durham, NC. Does mom get murdered?,’ a sixth questioned.
A seventh added: ‘I kept screaming at the tv this is the staircase family!!’
This has made others think that the siblings aren’t actually related.

White Lotus viewers were shocked after one specific scene in the first episode of the third season.
The drama returned to our screens on Sunday.
Fans couldn’t believe their eyes when Saxon Ratliff asked Lochlan where he was going to ‘j**k off all week’ as they shared a room at the H๏τel together.
He added: ‘I’ll just go to the bathroom’.
Saxon then walked to the bathroom totally with no clothes on and his brother watched on.
Those watching at home were baffled over the dynamics between the pair.
The White Lotus airs on HBO in the US and Sky Atlantic in the UK.
