Eamonn Holmes made a sweet marriage remark live on air just months after his split from ex Ruth Langsford. 

The GB News host, 65, and Loose Women panellist, 64, began dating in 1996 but separated last year after 14 years of marriage. 

And he made a rare comment about married life during a Valentine’s day morning show on GB News with his co-anchor Ellie Costello on Friday.

Asked if he remembered his first Valentine, Eamonn replied: ‘I married her.’ ‘Aww that’s so nice,’ Ellie said.

Eamonn was referencing his first wife Gabrielle Holmes, who he married in 1985 and shares three kids, Declan, Rebecca, and Niall, with.

Shortly after his separation from Ruth in May last year, Eamonn went public with his new relationship with dating counsellor Katie Alexander, 43, while Ruth remains publicly single.

Speaking to woman&home about their divorce, Ruth is determined to look ahead and feels an enthusiasm for what’s next, including meeting someone new.

When asked how she is feeling now, Ruth said: ‘I’m alright. Relationship breakdowns are very difficult – marriage, friendship, whatever it is – but you just deal with it and you have to move on. 

‘You can either let yourself crumble or you pick yourself up and get on with life. It’s a choice.’

Ruth, who shares son Jack, 22, with Eamonn, added: ‘I’m not delighted my marriage is over but I’ve accepted that my marriage is over, so I am trying to now embrace the fact that I’m single and can make choices that are just about me.’

The former This Morning host, who co-presented the Friday show with her ex-husband Eamonn, went on to discuss navigating a break-up in the public eye.

She said: ‘A break-up of a relationship is hard enough for anybody to deal with. A divorce is very difficult and it’s very painful, but most people don’t have to do it in the public eye, with everybody having an opinion about you and writing things about you and commenting things about you.

‘But that’s the nature of my job. I’ve always had that and if you can’t cope with that, you shouldn’t be doing this job.’

It comes after Eamonn admitted that he thinks it’s okay to lie to your partner in a relationship.

He made the confession during a debate on the topic on his morning show on GB News earlier this month.

Speaking on Monday, Eamonn revealed that dating apps have claimed a third of people tell lies to make themselves seem more interesting to potential, and current, partners. 

After a dating coach claimed it breaks the trust in a relationship to lie, Eamonn disagreed and drew on what appeared to be his own experience. 

‘”Does my bum look big in this? No of course it doesn’t.” So does that make me a bad person then, Jo?’ he asked. 

Eamonn added: ‘Let’s face it, we’re all quite boring. We are all quite boring. You ask a person to tell you about your life and they expect you to give some sort of revelation that you do things people don’t usually do and it’s just not the case. I imagine Jo that I embellish, I’m an embellisher. 

‘If you’re looking to find the most attractive person on that dating app you’re not going to say I sat on the couch watched TV and ate pizza are you?’

Earlier this month, The Sun reported that documents at Companies House showed that amid the high-profile breakup, Ruth withdrew almost £1million in cash from her Hey Ho Ltd firm.

The TV star’s firm, set up in 2013 and of which she is the sole director, takes the money she earns from her working projects, such as her job on Loose Women, as well as any brand deals and advertising partnerships. 

In the 12 months leading up to May, Ruth took out a huge dividend of £770,000, as well as spending £12,000 on furniture.

Back in 2023, she helped herself to a further £2.3million from her firm, after throwing herself into her TV work.
