Britain's Got Talent's Bruno Tonioli admits 'sometimes you have to be a little spicy' for the sake of entertainment shows

Known for his flamboyant and energetic personality, Bruno Tonioli has long been in the limelight for his over-the-top reactions and spicy remarks.

Now, the Britain’s Got Talent judge has revealed that he embraces his fiery approach for the sake of entertainment.

Ahead of the launch of Britain’s Got Talent series 18 next week, the 69-year-old TV personality told MailOnline: ‘I’ve never had any problems in the past. There are lines you don’t cross, but sometimes you have to be a little spicy in the right way.

‘There’s nothing wrong with that—it’s comedy, it’s entertainment.

‘But you can’t go into something thinking, ‘Oh God, I can’t do this, I can’t do that,’ because then you end up doing nothing.

‘If you try to please everyone, you please nobody. You have to be truthful and honest. Obviously, there are some places you don’t go, but I’ve never had any problems here or in America in 20 years. Never.’

The choreographer added: ‘You can’t go on stage or perform live with a filter in your brain. You have to be real, spontaneous, and entertaining—because the last thing you want is to bore people.

‘Whatever I’ve done or said has always come from a good place; it’s never intended to shock.’

He also shared: ‘There is a professionalism, especially backstage. I have never seen it [inappropriate behaviour] because I treat everybody exactly the same, including camera crews.

‘They have known me for years. They knew me from before when I’ve been in film crews and, behind the scenes for 50 years now.

‘There is a code of conduct and I, wouldn’t condone this, but off stage, if I see, or if I ever saw where anything that I thought was inappropriate, I would nip it in the bud.

‘But I have never seen it, when any shows that I’ve been involved when I was there, I have never seen it. That’s all I can say. You can only talk from your experience.’

Despite Bruno ‘never’ seeing inappropriate behaviour, not all entertainers have managed to keep their remarks within acceptable bounds.

Gino D’Acampo and Wynne Evans, while also known for their larger-than-life personalities, have made headlines for their behaviour.

Bruno shared that Simon 'is terrible. He said, 'you do whatever you want'. Because I said, Simon, I've never seen Britain's Got Talent, are there any rules?' And he said: 'Oh, don't you worry darling there are no rules. You just do your thing'

Mr D’Acampo, 48, has been rocked by ‘over 40’ allegations of Sєxually inappropriate and intimidating behaviour over a 12-year period – claims which he denies.

One woman has claimed that her 2018 complaints about Mr D’Acampo were not acted upon by ITV, while This Morning staff allegedly raised concerns about him a decade ago.

Meanwhile, Welsh opera singer Wynne Evans, 53, was axed from the Strictly Live Tour for his ‘spitroast’ remarks aimed at It Take Two presenter Janette Manrara during a press event for the Strictly Come Dancing Live tour, as revealed by The Mail.

During his two-decades-long TV career, the former Strictly judge became renowned for his wildly animated judging.

He often exaggerated gestures, jumped out of his seat, and even fell off his chair in excitement.

Last season, he made waves when he broke the rules by pressing the Golden Buzzer twice in one episode—much to the shock of his fellow judges. When Alesha Dixon asked what he had done to the show, he replied, ‘I don’t know. I’ve ruined it.’

Bruno shared that Simon ‘is terrible. He said, ‘you do whatever you want’. Because I said, Simon, I’ve never seen Britain’s Got Talent, are there any rules?’ And he said: ‘Oh, don’t you worry darling there are no rules. You just do your thing’. And there were rules and I learned that.’

And when asked about plans for retiring, Bruno said: ‘It has never crossed my mind because I still love what I do. I don’t intend to retire. I just signed up for a few more years in America.’

Britain’s Got Talent returns for its 18th series on Saturday 22nd Feb at 19:00 on ITV1 and ITVX
