Hollywood actress Brie Larson left fans in shock when she nearly burst into tears just minutes into a surprise appearance on Saturday Kitchen Live.
The 35-year-old Oscar winner became emotional when she met her unlikely idol, celebrity chef Rick Stein, on the BBC cooking show on Saturday.
Brie admitted she’s ‘obsessed’ with Rick, 78, and warned that she was ‘going to cry’ when quizzed by host Matt Tebʙuтт about her ‘super-fan’ status.
The A-lister left fans baffled when she appeared on the morning program alongside Rick, his son Jack, and Irish chef Anna Haugh.
The Captain Marvel star said: ‘I’m very into my food. I love eating food, I love making food, I love everything about what’s happening right now.’
When Matt revealed, ‘You’re also a big super-fan of Mr Rick Stein,’ Brie looked embarrᴀssed and said, ‘I can’t… I’m going to cry!’

The Lessons In Chemistry star admitted she has stayed at Rick’s luxury H๏τel in Padstow, Cornwall, several times, as a bewildered Rick grinned and said: ‘I can’t believe this.’
Looking visibly moved, Brie enthused: ‘I used to go to Padstow all the time. Yes, I’ve stayed at the H๏τel. I’ve done the whole thing…
‘Anyway, it just means a lot. I really can’t believe it. I feel like I’m in a dream right now.’
Matt seemed taken aback by Brie’s response to Rick, joking: ‘This is genuine, is that right?’
Brie replied: ‘Of course it’s genuine! I’m not that good of an actor!’
Viewers at home shared their shock at the American acting heavyweight, who won an Oscar for the 2015 drama Room, appearing on the daytime show.

Brie appeared on Saturday Kitchen to promote her run in the West End production, Elektra.
The UK play is an adaptation of Sophocles’s classic story about a woman riddled with guilt and anger at her father’s ᴀssᴀssination.
The original 420BC play followed bereaved Elektra’s journey when her long lost brother Orestes returned.

Elektra was staged at Theatre Royal Brighton from January 13 to 18, 2025 before it moved to London for an 11-week season from January 24 to April 12.
The adaptation was created by poet Anne Carson and directed by Oklahoma!’s Daniel Fish.
Earlier this year, Brie told Variety she ‘couldn’t be more excited’ when announcing she had accepted the role.
‘I couldn’t be more excited to perform in this Greek drama, or in better company collaborating with Daniel Fish and Anne Carson,’ she gushed.
‘Storytelling has always been the way I organise life, feelings and experiences.
‘I look forward to sharing space with the wonderful West End audience while we explore this timeless story.’
