The Pretty Woman star opened up about their big move and holiday festivities during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon late last year.
‘My wife is Spanish,’ Gere began as he addressed the move. ‘Is this a problem for anybody out there?’ he joked after he heard the audience groan in sadness, prompting Fallon to ᴀssure him they were going to miss him.
‘I’ll be back,’ he promised.
Gushing about his latest chapter of domestic bliss, the star said life couldn’t get any better as a father of three.
‘The top of the top,’ he said. ‘I love my wife, she’s incredible. Great mother. The kids are healthy and happy. Of course there’s nothing more than that.’
The cinema icon and Alejandra wed in 2018 after two years of dating.
Richard also shares son Homer, 25, with his ex-wife and model Carey Lowell, and decided to name him after his grandfathers as well as the Tibetan name “Jigme” – which is his middle name.
He and Carey married in 2002 but later separated in 2013 after 11 years of marriage.

In April, Richard revealed to Vanity Fair España that after spending the first six years of his marriage stateside, he and his wife are ready to embrace a new chapter by moving to her native Spain.
‘She was very generous in giving me six years living in my world, so I think it is only fair that I give her at least another six living in hers,’ he told the magazine.
Richard and Alejandra’s romance began in 2014, when they reconnected in Italy after first meeting years earlier through a mutual friend.
Despite their 34-year age difference, the two quickly bonded over their shared pᴀssions for humanitarian work and spirituality.
They married in a private ceremony at Gere’s estate in upstate New York in 2018.
They covered Elle Spain’s February issue and opened up on relocating to Madrid with their family.
Gere said: ‘This is our momentum. We are happier than ever. She, because she is at home and I because, if Alejandra is happy, I am too.’
‘We are like soul mates,’ Alejandra gushed, ‘We have the same values, we see the world in the same way and from the first moment we feel like we have known each other for a long time.
‘And this only happens once, if it happens at all. We were united by the karma of our past lives.’
Giving an insight into their family life, she added: ‘Richard is a very dedicated and present father. He loves reading stories to children.
‘It seems like an idyllic picture, but it’s true. He’s a great dad. He doesn’t cook. I do, but when I cook, he plays the guitar.
She continued: ‘One of the things that unites us the most and what made us fall deeply in love was our activist hearts.’

Elsewhere in the interview, Richard said: ‘The new world will be built with and thanks to women. The Dalai Lama once told me that he inherited compᴀssion and kindness not from his father, but from his mother.
‘Together they are extremely powerful. If you give money to a woman, she invests it and puts it at the service of the community and improves the whole village.’
The bestted couple looked as loved-up as ever in the new cover shoot, with Richard allowing his wife to take centre-stage as he stood behind her.
