Lady Gaga reveals what inspired her to return to her eccentric roots and wild image – after years of toning down her bold antics

Lady Gaga reveals what inspired her to return to her eccentric roots and wild image – after years of toning down her bold antics

She’s rising up the charts with her infectious new hit Abracadabra as she gears up to release her seventh studio album.

And now Lady Gaga has revealed what inspired her to return to her eccentric roots and wild image, after years of toning down her bold antics.

Last month, the Grammy-winning musician, real name Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, traded in her signature, dark brunette arches for bleached brows once again.

She also commanded attention in daring spiked latex and lace ensembles in her new music video.

But according to The Sun, it’s Lady Gaga’s fiancé Michael Polansky who urged her to make a comeback in the world of pop.

She said: ‘Michael is the person who told me to make a new pop record. He was like, ‘Babe. I love you. You need to make pop music’.

Meanwhile, businessman Michael said: ‘On the Chromatica tour, I saw a fire in her. I wanted to help her keep that alive all the time and just start making music that made her happy.’

And New Zealand choreographer Parris Goebel, who worked with Gaga on her new song, gushed: ‘It is cool that it reminds her fans of an era that was so iconic and groundbreaking for her. I think she looks the best she’s ever looked.’

In the new music video, which premiered earlier this month, the singer cuts a bold figure in an outlandish red latex outfit that’s held together with nuts and bolts.

She also dons a ginormous spiked hat alongside a lacy balaclava and a bold splash of lipstick to match.

The hitmaker then slips into a figure-hugging white lace outfit complete with a cape, with her freshly-dyed platinum locks braided back.

It’s a stark contrast to the more mellowed-down look Gaga has been going for in recent years, as she would often step onto the red carpet in understated evening gowns.

In comparison, Gaga’s most notable fashion moment was her famous ‘meat dress’ at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2010.

But there’s no doubt in fans’ minds that Gaga has gone back to her iconic old ways as she chaoticially acted and danced around in dramatic choreography in the video.

Rushing to the comments on YouTube, viewers wrote: ‘Old Testament Gaga back like she never even f****** left.’

‘And when the world needed her most, she returned.’

‘The fact that this song is just 3 days old and already feels like a classic….’

‘I deeply appreciate how the choreography is reminiscent of her past work yet it’s something she’s never done before. parris really ate this.’

‘I know she is really vulnerable and brave for releasing this after she admitted to be scared of returning to this type of music let’s all collectively say THANK YOU.’

‘This feels like her stuff from 2008-2013. I’m being transported back to my teen years, and I’m obsessed.’

‘I’m obsessed , this is soooo 2010’s Lady Gaga. Mother Monster is so ALIVE.’

‘Lady Gaga saving pop music once again.’

‘Not to be dramatic or anything, but Gaga coming back to this style of music has me crying happy tears. Mother Monster FOREVER!’

It comes after Abracadabra has drawn comparisons to an iconic song from the 80s.

The dance song’s melody has been compared to the Tears For Fears song Mad World, a slower-paced, lo-fi track released in 1982.

Despite the differences, numerous listeners couldn’t help but spot the similarities.

TikToker Jarred Jermaine pointed out the resemblance with video comparing the melodies, prompting mixed reaction from fans who agreed and disagreed with him.

However, he had numerouses responses from listeners noting the similarity was there: ‘I knew I heard it somewhere!’ one wrote.

‘Yea I hear the similarity. Gaga is just sped up,’ another posted.

‘Gaga’s melody is faster but it’s the same melody,’ one said in the comments.

The comparisons continued on X, where one said Abracadabra ‘slowly morphs’ in the Tears for Fears track every time they listen to it.

Another said they even started ‘serving and dancing’ to Mad World after mistakenly thinking it was the new Gaga song.

‘Every time I get Gaga’s “Abracadabra” in my head it slowly morphs into “Mad World” by Gary Jules…..’ an X user noted.

‘My bad, I started serving and dancing to Mad World cause I thought it was Abracadabra by Gaga. I’m so stupid,’ another posted.

Jarred’s TikTok video comparing the two tracks made it’s way onto X as well, with one agreeing the songs did have similarities.

‘Not to be that dj on tiktok, but I don’t know if it’s intentional that Abracadabra and Mad World sounds alike.’

‘I thought the exact same thing when I first heard abracadabra I thought it sounded like Mad World,’ another wrote in response to an X user who thought Jarred was ‘reaching.’

Another said they had been thinking about the resemblance all day.

‘Am i the only one who hears mad world in abracadabra? i’ve been thinking this since yesterday,’ another posted.

Gaga dropped Abracadabra earlier this month along with the accompanying edgy music video.

The song is from her forthcoming eighth studio album, Mayhem, which also contains the singles Disease and Die With a Smile.

‘The album started as me facing my fear of returning to the pop music my earliest fans loved,’ the singer said in a press announcement last month.
