House Of The Dragon finally drops major season three update – but ‘struggling’ fans are NOT happy

House Of The Dragon has dropped a major season three update – but some ‘struggling’ fans have already made it clear that they are not happy.

The HBO fantasy drama stars Milly Alcock, 24, Olivia Cooke, 31, Matt Smith, 42, and Ewan Mitchell, 27.

Actors Matt Smith and Fabien Franke revealed at MegaCon in Florida that filming for the third season of the prequel series to Game of Thrones has begun.

They also shared that they’ve been handed the scrips for the fourth, fifth and sixth episodes of the new series. A release date for the next season is yet to be confirmed.

However, despite the huge update, some fans aren’t impressed and shared their thoughts on Reddit.

The Express reported that one user commented: ‘I miss when tv shows filmed on a normal schedule and we received new seasons every year (and more than 6-8 episodes).’

‘I’m struggling to give a s**t about shows these days when we have to wait multiple years between 8-episode seasons.’; ‘I’m gonna watch it but my hype dropped to zero to be honest.’

‘Amen. It was one thing with GOT which aired fairly consistently throughout its run. Waiting two years for these big shows is a drag.’; ‘Don’t care anymore. You can’t give us 8 episodes every 2 years with no finale and expect viewers to wanna keep watching. Ended up just googling what happens.’

It comes after the season two finale of the show left fans mostly underwhelmed.

The 70-minute finale – enтιтled The Queen Who Ever Was – didn’t provide the spectacle that many Game of Thrones fans had come to expect from season finales.

Many took to X (formerly Twitter) to express their frustration over the episode, which ultimately set the groundwork for what many are hoping is an exciting season 3… albeit at the expense of a lackluster finale.

While there were plenty of surprising moments – including a bold gambit by Alicent (Olivia Cooke) and a shockingly unclaimed Iron Throne – many were left disappointed.

‘WHERE IS THE REST OF THE EPISODE????’ tweeted @ashx_s0ul along with a picture of a cat captioned, ‘Sobbing in Valyrian.’

The first season ended with the shocking deal of Rhaenyra Targaryn’s (Emma D’Arcy) son Lucerys at the hands of Aemond (Ewan Mitchell), which set the stage for the “war” to come.

Still fans didn’t get much in terms of actual battle action in Season 2, which is a primary reason why many felt underwhelmed.

@helloChanti tweeted, ‘S1 ended with preparing for war. S2 ended with preparing for war. WHERE’S WAR? I WANT WAR #HouseOfTheDragon Ep8.’

@Mr_Forrest_Pump bemoaned nearly an hour into the episode, ’55 mins in.. no action.. just bumping gums.’

House Of The Dragon is available to stream in the UK on Sky and NOW.
