Meanwhile, Kendrick continued to take a savage swipe at SZA’s ex-boyfriend Drake.
After dating Drake in 2009 and again in 2023, SZA still chose to go on stage with his rival Kendrick.
The Grammy winner showcased his lyrical prowess as he started out the performance on top of a car before taking a swipe at his hip hop rival Drake, 38.
Despite Drake recently suing his and Lamar’s record label, Universal Music Group, over the controversial diss song, Not Like Us, which calls Drake a ‘certified pedophile’, Kendrick still performed the song, however, he omitted the word.
It seems the musician opted not to say the word so as not to trigger another lawsuit, as right before he started rapping he told the crowd, ‘I want to perform their favorite song, but you know they love to sue.’
SZA dated global superstar Drake in 2009, but claimed the relationship ‘wasn’t H๏τ and heavy or anything’.
She confirmed her brief relationship with Drake again in October 2023 but downplayed its seriousness, according to the news website Complex.
In 2022, SZA addressed her current status with Drake while speaking with Audacy, saying, ‘We’re cool. And we’ve always been cool. It’s never been weird,’ via JustJared.
Drake previously mentioned SZA in his lyrics on the 2020 track Mr. Right Now, which features 21 Savage.
The songstress added, ‘Anytime he’s ever mentioned me, it’s always been positive.
‘He’s never said anything negative about me. I’m grateful for that. I think highly of him… He’s King Drake,’ she said.
