Alan Carr claims Amanda Holden is ‘very bossy’ and would ‘always tell him what to do’ on their home renovation show

Alan Carr has claimed that Amanda Holden was ‘very bossy’ towards him on the set of their TV show.

The comedian, 48, has teamed up with Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda, 53, for their BBC series Amanda & Alan’s Spanish Job and admitted that she was always dishing orders out.

Speaking on The Graham Norton Show, which will air on Friday night, he explained: ‘I love Amanda, but she is very bossy and always telling me what to do.’

The former Chatty Man host went on to add that he is ‘getting better slowly’ at the concept of DIY having had to do it for the cameras.

But  he still struggles to remember what tools are called and mistakenly believed that a spirit level was known as a ‘spirit guide’.

He said: ‘I am getting better at DIY slowly but surely. I never really know what tools are called – for a long time I thought a spirit level was a spirit guide.’

The celebrity pair have been busy filming the second series of their BBC renovations show over the last couple of months.

After a successful Italian series, the best friends have reunited this time in the sun-kissed hills of Andalusia and embark on their first ever Spanish renovation job.

In a first look, Amanda and Alan are stood enjoying a drink on a castle as they overlook a stunning landscape during sunset.

Reflecting on their time together, Alan explained that when his dad ‘made a bit of money’ they came to Spain to places like Alicante and Benidorm, but this was the first time he had been inland.

Amanda then asked Alan if he had ever gone camping, before joking about one of her favourite moments from her childhood holidays.

She explained: ‘We had a tent and we had to wait for my mum and dad to pitch. My favourite noise in the world is hearing a zip go up.’

‘I bet it is,’ Alan quipped before they both ended up in fits of laughter.

‘I thought it be going down knowing you,’ he swiped, taking the joke in a more X-rated direction.

Alan was joined on the new episode of the BBC chat show by (L-R) Robert De Niro, Sir Elton John, Brandi Carlile, Mikey Maddison and Holly Willoughby

In the new series, viewers see Amanda as she takes a gamble on a run-down three-storey townhouse and convinces Alan to join her in a lifelong dream of transforming it into a boutique B&B.

But with over 2,000 square feet to deal with, a roof that needs some repair, and a crumbling outbuilding on its last legs, it soon dawns on them that the task may be too big to handle.

Away from the DIY, Amanda and Alan will of course throw themselves into the Spanish traditions.

They’ll travel the breadth of Andalusia to discover the rich, varied landscape of the Sierra Nevada mountains, whitewashed coastal villages and historic Moorish towns.

The Graham Norton Show airs Friday at 10.40pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
