Call The Midwife pulled from screens in middle of series in BBC schedule shake-up set to leave fans livid after cliffhanger episode

Call The Midwife has been pulled from screens in the middle of the current series in a BBC schedule shake-up set to infuriate fans.

The popular drama, set in 1960s Poplar, usually airs on BBC One every Sunday evening, but due to the BAFTAs, the penultimate episode of the series won’t be broadcast for a while.

Instead, the awards show will be aired on Sunday 16 in place of the much-loved Call The Midwife starring Jenny Agutter as Sister Julienne and Judy Parfitt as Sister Monica Joan.

While this weekend’s instalment will air as normal on February 9, the following episode will instead hit screens on February 23 at 8pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

To make matters worse, the shake-up comes just as the drama is set to reach fever pitch.

This weekend’s show will see Joyce, played by Renee Bailey, in a difficult situation with a mother struggling with postnatal complications, and the nurses will have to handle an outbreak of Weil’s disease.

Meanwhile Cyril Robinson’s life is thrown into chaos, played by Zephryn Taitte.

Other stars include Helen George as Nurse Trixie and Laura Main as Nurse Shelagh.

It comes after Call The Midwife fans were surprised when they spotted a kids’ TV icon in an unlikely twist on the popular BBC show.

An episode broadcast last month left viewers gobsmacked when an actress who played a well-known character from CBBC’s early 2000 show, The Story Of Tracy Beaker, featured in the programme.

Actress Lisa Coleman, 54, who starred as Cam Lawson in the popular show set in a children’s home, made an appearance on Call The Midwife.

In her debut performance on the beloved BBC show, she played social worker Miss Jenkins.

The episode covered the story of first-time parents Norma and Don, played by Alexa Davies and Garmon Rhys.

Their baby, June, was born with spina bifida and needed surgery. The parents felt they couldn’t take care of the infant’s needs and considered placing her in care.

Lisa, as Miss Jenkins, then stepped in and due to limited resources had to contact an orphanage instead.

Fans recognised Lisa and took to social media to express their surprise.

One viewer posted on X: ‘CAM FROM TRACY BEAKER #callthemidwife.’

Another echoed: ‘STOP IS THAT CAM FROM TRACY BEAKER??? #callthemidwife.’
