EastEnders legend Kacey Ainsworth looked unrecognisable after a glamorous Grantchester makeover. 

The actress, 56, appeared on ITV’s Lorraine to talk about the current series of the detective drama. 

Series nine of the Granchester hit ITV on January 9. 

During her stint on ITV breakfast show, the programme showed a clip of her playing her alter-ego Cathy Keating from Wednesday’s upcoming episode. 

The soap star is one of the writers of Wednesday’s instalment. 

Speaking about how it came about, Kacey told Lorraine: ‘It’s something I always wanted to do, I started writing  with Tracey Ann Oberman when we had babies together and we had successful time with it.

The actress has played Cathy Keating in the ITV drama since 2014

The star spoke to Lorraine Kelly about Wednesday’s episode of Grantchester 

‘But the trouble was is that I work as an actress and so does she, we’re always so busy.

‘We can’t concentrate on these things and it’s never too late. 

‘It’s never too late to do something like this. 

‘I’d been suggesting things for Kathy to do and for other characters and storylines for years, I just thought I had to take the bull by the horns.

‘I wrote over the Christmas, three weeks off, I got up early before the kids, wrote an episode and went for it!’ 

Grantchester hit our screens in 2014.

There have been 52 episodes over nine successful seasons. 

The actress looked totally different to one of the most well-known characters that she has played – Little Mo AKA Maureen Slater.

She played the cleaner between 2000 and 2006. 

Kacey’s alter-ego Little Mo was involved in a number of hitting storylines, including her abusive relationship with husband Trevor Morgan. 

During her chat with Lorraine, they mentioned the BBC soap.

Although the chat was a little brief, Kacey left the conversation about a return very open.  

Kacey said: ‘She’s not ᴅᴇᴀᴅ.’

Lorraine asked: ‘What is she doing?’  

‘Somebody asked me this yesterday, I think she left on the tube, she’s just going around the circle line…,’ Kacey replied.

Lorraine finished the conversation with ‘never say never’.

Kacey has appeared in various other TV shows over the years.

Some include  The Bull, H๏τel Babylon, Casualty, M.I High, Call the Midwife and Moving On.
