Kacey Musgraves has responded to fans who think she shaded Beyoncé at the 2025 Grammys on Sunday night.
The 36-year-old music artist — who scored her eighth Grammy win at this year’s ceremony — was accused of having an ‘unimpressed’ facial expression as the Texas Hold ‘Em singer, 43, collected her Best Country Album prize.
Musgraves was also nominated in the category for her album Deeper Well, released on March 15.
‘Is Kacey Musgraves mad that Beyoncé won? She sure looks it,’ one person wrote on X, while another said, ‘Kacey Musgraves is MAAAAAAD.’
A rep for the songstress told E! News, ‘It’s a sensationalistic false narrative meant to pit two talented female artists against each other. There was simply no scowl or expression made.’

The Texas native turned heads in a two-tone ensemble that included a timeless white tank top combined with a sparkly, fringed, gold maxi skirt.
The Western-inspired look boasted a thin, silver-toned belt that cinched her trim waistline.
The Golden Hour music artist wore her lengthy, glossy brunette locks in her signature center part with a smooth, flowy, subtle body wave.

Her husband Jay-Z, 55, famously called out the Grammys in 2024 for never having given her the award, despite her breaking a record as the most-nominated artist in history.
The former Destiny’s Child frontwoman has also won more Grammys than any other artist.

One person speculated online, ‘Kacey is pissed that Beyonce beat her for best country album’
While Musgraves was defeated in the Best Country album and Best Country Solo Performance categories, she did win Best Country Song for The Architect
During her acceptance speech, Beyonce was visibly shocked by her win.
‘Oh, my god. Wow. I really was not expecting this. I want to thank god that I am able to still do what I love after so many years,’ she said incredulously.
The mother-of-three added, ‘I would like to thank all of the incredible country artists that accepted this album. We worked so hard on it.’
‘I think sometimes “genre” is a cold word to keep us in our place as artists, and I just want to encourage people to do what they’re pᴀssionate about. And to stay persistent,’ she noted amid the controversy around her genre-bending collection of songs.
The Houston-bred star continued, ‘I’d like to thank my beautiful family. All of the artists that were collaborators. Thank you. This wouldn’t have been this album without you. I’d like to thank god, again, and my fans. I still am in shock, so thank you so much for this honor.’
Earlier in the evening, Beyoncé and Miley Cyrus won the Grammy for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for their collaboration II Most Wanted.
