Loose Women panel break down in tears as Charlene White and Judi Love recount devastating family losses live on show

The Loose Women panel broke down in tears on Monday as they recounted their devastating losses live on the show.

The latest instalment of the ITV show saw Charlene White, 44, Kelly Brook, 45, Brenda Edwards, 55, and Judi Love, 44, return to their seats to chat about a variety of different topics and welcome famous faces.

During the first half of the episode, the panel discussed the best way to navigate talking about death to children.

Charlene brought up her late best friend Darrell, who recently pᴀssed away from Sarcoma cancer.

The presenter shared his incredible story and explained how he had joined forces with charity Sarcoma UK to try and raise awareness for the illness.

After keeping it together for the first part of the segment, the star broke down after co-star Kelly told her that she understood her pain, as she also opened up about her father’s death.

Kelly said: ‘I think whenever anyone goes through it… It makes me cry because I know what it is and I have so much empathy for anyone that has had it [cancer] or is going through it.’

The model’s kind words set Charlene off as she wiped away her tears.

Judi spoke about losing her mum and later fought back the tears as they showed a picture of her on the screen.

Some took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to point out how emotional the scenes were.

One pointed out: ‘Charlene is a real one for keeping it together like that.’

Another questioned: ‘Is the show sponsored by Kleenex today?’

Charlene paid tribute to Darrell on social media last week.

She wrote: ‘There will be many of you who will be aware of me talking about one of my oldest and best friends Darrell @djoptic and his mission to beat the enemy which is Sarcoma cancer.

‘In the early hours of Saturday morning, four and a half years after he was diagnosed, after a week of saying goodbyes to those he loved, sharing stories and banter, he took his final breath surrounded by his wonderful wife @mrsamymcdonald and children Maya and Theo.

‘He has been my brother since we met at 16 years old, I was the best man at his wedding, and godmother to his eldest.

‘The nonsense our little crew would get up to was hilarious back in the day, he was there for every milestone. My heart is broken into a million pieces.

‘He was by far one of the kindest men I’ve ever met, and throughout his treatment he made it his mission to shine a light on Sarcoma alongside @sarcoma_uk in the hope no other family had to go through what he and his family went through: raising awareness, raising money, educating doctors. He was quite simply, amazing.

‘His wife @mrsamymcdonald is honestly the best of all of us. I’ve watched her in awe over the past 4 years. I wish I could hug her pain away, because at this point life just feels very, very unfair.

‘I’m returning to work today, because I just don’t know what else to do tbh. Grief can sometimes just make you feel a little lost.

‘Message your besties and let them know how much they are loved xx.’

Kelly’s dad Kenneth pᴀssed away in 2007.

Speaking about her father back in 2020, Kelly said: ‘I lost my dad in 2007 to cancer, it’s just a devastating disease that just umm… just really impacted my family hugely.

‘I get quite emotional talking about it.

‘You know as much as we’ve come and we’ve had fun today. I think when we actually think about why am I here and actually the reason is that… I wanted to be here really and just kind of do anything I can to help anyone that’s going through it, or people that will, unfortunately, go through it.’

Judi lost her mum in 2009 to dementia and she pᴀssed away just weeks before she welcomed her child into the world.

Previously talking about her heartbreak on Loose Women, Judi said: ‘The spirit of the person is gone and you’ve got the shell. As a carer, I can’t even explain the emotional [impact]. It’s so draining.’

‘I remember one time I was with my mum, she just didn’t know who I was. I went to my friend’s house, and I went to the kitchen and I just screamed and cried and cried and cried.

‘I can’t explain seeing someone you’ve grown with or you’ve loved and they’re gone, they’re absolutely gone.’

Loose Women airs weekdays from 12:30pm on ITV and is available to stream on ITVX.
