Supermodel Lily Aldridge is breaking into the beauty business with the launch of her debut fragrance – and she is bringing her family along with her for the sweetly-scented ride.
The 33-year-old fashion star officially launched Lily Aldridge Parfums on September 1 with the release of her debut fragrance – a scent called Haven that is inspired by ‘morning walks’ in the garden at her family’s Nashville home.
So it is only fitting that the campaign shoot for the $50 fragrance should take place in Lily’s personal haven, and feature her two children, seven-year-old daughter Dixie Pearl, and seven-month-old son Winston Roy.
In one pH๏τo shared by the newly-launched brand, a beaming Lily can be seen cuddling her kids, with Winston cradled carefully in her lap, while Dixie leans over to give her baby brother a kiss.
Their father, Lily’s husband of eight years, Colin Followill, does not feature.
The black-and-white pH๏τo, which was snapped at the family home, features alongside a series of stunning images of Lily, which were taken at Blackberry Farm in the Smoky Mountains, and show her lounging in a meadow of wildflowers, and reclining in a comfortable chair.
But while the location certainly served as an idyllic backdrop for the shoot, it is her garden in Nashville that truly brought the fragrance to life, with Lily saying of the scent: ‘Inspired by morning walks through the garden, Haven is a tribute to my home in Nashville.
‘It’s a romantic floral scent, with rich rose, fresh peony, and a note of deep musk.’
Lily’s perfumer, Yves Cᴀssar, added that he worked to create a scent that was ‘reminiscent of freshly cut flowers from her backyard’, explaining that the peony and rose help to ‘showcase the rare and beautiful complexity of flowers’.
In a statement, Lily explained that it was so important to her to pay tribute to her home in the form of a scent, because her family plays such a vital role in her life.
‘My family is my past, my present, and my future,’ she said. ‘It’s what I wake up to, every morning, and what I dream of, every night. Because what is a journey worth if you can’t share it with the ones you love?’
But Lily’s Nashville garden is not the only location that is being brought to life in the form of a fragrance; as she revealed in a behind-the-scenes video from the campaign, the model has created four different scents that she will release over the next year.
Each is inspired by a particular place that has special significance in her life, while also drawing on her love of travel, beauty, fashion, and family.
‘It’s not just about the places that shape you — it’s also about the path you took along the way,’ Lily said of the ethos behind her new brand.
‘It’s the story you bring with you, wherever you go. This project is all about sharing my story, with a special series of scents that captures my journey.’
According to a brand statement, the next three fragrances will be inspired by two other places near and dear to Lily: the Palm Springs and the California oceanside.
‘The genesis of Lily Aldridge Parfums stems from Lily’s sensibility for wanderlust and her adoration for her family, beauty, fashion and travel,’ a statement read.
‘The collection consists of four unique fragrances that represent a special place in Lily’s heart: her hometown in Nashville, the desert in Palm Springs, and the California oceanside.’
Lily’s fragrances also have an eco-friendly aspect to them; according to the brand, ‘every component of the packaging is responsibly sourced and minimizes extraneous waste’.
This includes using a wooden cap to seal the perfume bottle, relying on 100 per cent recycled paper for all of the cartons and shipping materials – and, as a bonus, each bottle comes complete with a seeded bio-degradable card that can be soaked in water and used to plant wildflowers.
