Pete Davidson is sparing no expense as he makes significant strides on his health journey following his summer rehab stint.
The 30-year-old Saturday Night Live vet dropped a hefty $200,000 to remove the numerous tattoos that cover much of his body, according to a source who spoke to People on Friday.
‘He just woke up one day and wanted them gone, and it’s been a years-long process,’ the source revealed.
Davidson, who ‘has been sober since September and gained twenty pounds,’ opted to remove his tattoos as a ‘fresh start,’ a second insider told the outlet.
‘Things are really going well for him, everything is moving in the right direction, and he’s been receiving fantastic reviews for the movie,’ the insider added, referencing Pete’s new film Dog Man.
During an appearance on Today Friday, Davidson opened up about how excruciating the tattoo removal process has been, describing it as ‘pretty terrible.’

‘So if anybody out there is watching and thinking about getting a tattoo, make sure you really want to get it,’ he said while showing the faded body art on his arm. ‘It’s pretty gone.’
The actor, who began the removal process in 2020, revealed that getting sober sparked his desire for a full transformation, including his appearance.
‘I got sober and I saw myself in the mirror and I was like, “Nah. Who that?” I was like, “I got to change it up a little bit.”‘

Back in 2021, Davidson confirmed that he was ‘burning off’ his tattoos so that he could get more film roles.
During an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, the actor said he wants to have his tattoos removed so that he doesn’t have to spend ‘three hours’ in makeup every day getting them covered up.
‘I honestly never thought that I would get the opportunity to act and I love it a lot,’ he said at the time.
‘You have to get there three hours earlier to cover all your tattoos, because for some reason, people in movies, they don’t have them that much,’ he continued.

And Pete admitted the process of getting his ink removed is ‘worse’ than the pain that comes with the tattoo itself.
He told Seth, ‘So now I’m burning them off, but burning them off is worse than getting them.
‘Because not only are they, like, burning off your skin, but you’re wearing these big goggles, right? So you can’t see anything and the doctor’s in there with you,’ he continued.
‘So before he goes to laser each tattoo, you have to hear him announce what the tattoo is to make sure if you want to keep it or not.
‘So I’ll just be sitting there all high off of the [nitrous oxide] … and then all of a sudden I’ll just hear, “Are we keeping the Stewie Griffin smoking a blunt?” And then I have to sit there and be like, “No, Dr. G.”‘
