TV fans have raved over a ‘moving’ sci-fi series that’s ‘definitely worth a binge’ – and it has just been uploaded on Prime Video to stream.
Earth Abides is a six-episode adaptation of the popular 1949 George R. Stewart novel.
The storyline follows a population that has been wiped out by a fatal disease and is forced to restart their lives in a daunting new world.
Similar to The Last Of Us, the dystopian series sees a group of desperate survivors, including ‘Ish’ Williams (played by Alexander Ludwig) as they attempt to rebuild humanity.
The series, created by Todd Komarnicki, stars Jessica Frances Dukes as Emma, Rodrigo Fernandez-Stoll, and Tony-winning star Aaron Tveit.
And while the premise may seen gloomy, viewers have enjoyed the show’s highs and lows, raving over it on social media.

One penned: ‘That simplicity is the real appeal of the series.’
‘Nothing is rushed, as isolation eventually gives way to a budding new community, and the show stoically focuses on the difficulties, both practically and ethically, of restarting a society.’
‘Philosophical, ambitious, and far greater than the sum of its parts.’
‘Pulled into the show. Pretty awesome so far. It’s def binge worthy over the holidays. Episode four has been the most captivating and well done, so far. Excited to finish the season.’
But not everyone agrees as some penned: ‘Earth Abides has an important message that is worth hearing, but this series squanders its potential’
‘In the end I found this movie quite frustrating in that the challenges faced hardly seemed realistic and the solutions to the challenges made little sense given the context. If the whole population of earth is gone, you don’t need to learn how to convert your house to solar power using books, just move into a house with Solar installed. You don’t need to build a plane, just go to the local airport.’
‘Weirdly rushed, at one point the episode was nearly over then all of a sudden in 2 separate unrelated scenes his dog is killed then he is attacked by a mountain line.’
‘Parts of this are so bad, both in terms of structure and in terms of acting, as to be insulting’.
