Fans are convinced they’ve uncovered the A-list actress who Reese Witherspoon claims ‘doesn’t like’ her anymore.

The Legally Blonde star kicked off the speculation on Thursday when she revealed that an unnamed actress stopped being her friend after she ‘roasted’ her in a speech at a ‘classy’ British awards event.

Witherspoon told PEOPLE that she’s still ‘haunted’ by the experience and that the actress no longer speaks to her.

‘We’re not friends anymore. I’m not even kidding — we’re not friends anymore,’ she said. ‘I think she doesn’t like me anymore.’

While Witherspoon remained тιԍнт-lipped about the actress’ idenтιтy, internet sleuths believe she’s been secretly feuding with fellow Oscar-winner Kate Winslet.

This is because Witherspoon once honored the тιтanic star on stage at the BAFTA/LA Cunard Britannia Awards back in November 2007.

She delivered a joke-filled speech that included her playfully mocking Winslet’s British accent in front of the event’s audience.

‘I always wanted to be a European movie star, wear giant sunglᴀsses, elaborate neck scarves, smoke hand-rolled cigarettes, and have savoir faire and gravitas,’ Witherspoon’s speech began, according to JustJared, who uncovered parts of the transcript on a Witherspoon fan site.

‘Imagine my good fortune when Kate Winslet moved into my neighborhood, rang my door bell and said, (insert British accent here) “Dahling, Sam is off shooting, and I believe our children are the same age. Could they possibly have a play date and oh, by the way, it’s almost 9 o’clock and I’ve had nothing to do drink, do you have any wine?”

She then went on speak about Winslet’s ‘fearlessness’ when it came to her famous ɴuᴅᴇ scene in the 2001 film Iris.

‘When I saw her in and she took off all her clothes and jumped into that lake, I thought, “Wow, I bet that lake is really cold.” And then I thought, “Wow, There’s an actor without fear,”‘ Witherspoon teased.

She then told the crowd that she couldn’t share any personal stories about her and Winslet because ‘they’re all too bawdy or tawdry or drunken to tell.’

The ’embarrᴀssing’ stories in question, according to the fan site, were ‘the time [Witherspoon and Winslet] contemplated laser hair removal and… or that time on the freeway when they pulled over and.. or that really funny thing that happened when they were both in their underwear.’

In her PEOPLE interview, Witherspoon explained that the actress, who many think is Winslet, has asked her to speak at the event on her behalf.

Along with the star’s name, Witherspoon did not reveal the name of the ceremony or when it took place.

‘It literally haunts me,’ she confessed before recounting the ’embarrᴀssing’ moment for the outlet.

‘So this friend of mine — who I didn’t really know that well, but she was a very serious, proper actress — she asked me to give her an award,’ she explained.

‘But I had never been to this award ceremony, so I thought it was like a roast. So I got up and I roasted her.’

However, Witherspoon quickly realized that her ‘funny’ speech wasn’t landing with the event’s audience.

‘The tone [of the event] was British and elegant and classy. And I was like, ‘Remember the time we got laser hair removal?!” Witherspoon recalled with a laugh.

She added: ‘I’m still embarrᴀssed about it.’ 

‘I thought it was so funny and it was just, I had the wrong audience,’ she said of the speech.

While Witherspoon refused to share the idenтιтy of her former actress pal, she was less тιԍнт-lipped when it came to dishing about the highly-anticipated Legally Blonde prequel series.

She told PEOPLE this week that production on the TV series will begin in March 2025.

Witherspoon developed the upcoming show with the help of her production company Hello Sunshine.  

She will also executive produce the series alongside Lauren Neustadter, Lauren Kisilevsky, Marc Platt and Laura Kittrell, who will also serve as showrunner.

Legally Blonde was released in 2001, with Witherspoon playing the iconic role of sorority girl-turned-lawyer Elle Woods.

The hit film also starred the likes of Jennifer Coolidge, Selma Blair and Luke Wilson. 

The sequel Legally Blonde 2: Red, White and Blonde was released in 2003.

‘I’m really excited. We start in March,’ Witherspoon gushed about spin-off series on Wednesday. ‘I’m really excited because we’re going through the casting process right now and we’re picking who is going to play the young me. It’s kind of a trip,’

‘It’s so exciting too, to watch these young girls that are so filled with enthusiasm and excitement and completely… There’s so many good ones. That’s the hard thing because there’s so many good people to choose from,’ she added.

Witherspoon has been hitting the media circuit lately with You’re Cordially Invited co-star Will Ferrell to promote the new Prime Video comedy.

During her sit-down interview with Good Morning America’s Michael Strahan and George Stephanopoulos this week, Witherspoon talked about acting alongside Ferrell in the new flick.

She recalled that the director and writer of the film Nicholas Stoller phoned her and told her he is working on a new movie with Ferrell.

Witherspoon said Ferrell’s involvement was all she needed to hear to accept the job.

Witherspoon added that her and Will met 20 years prior when he was on Saturday Night Live and she hosted it.

Since then the two have been wanting to star in a movie together.
