BBC bosses ‘hire top ITV star to host Traitors-style quiz show’ after finale pulled in 7.4m viewers

BBC bosses ‘hire top ITV star to host Traitors-style quiz show’ after finale pulled in 7.4m viewers

The BBC has reportedly hired Amanda Holden to host a new Traitors-style quiz show after the finale of the popular reality series pulled in a whopping 7.4 million viewers.

The show, тιтled The Inner Circle, will feature Amanda, 53, hosting on Saturday evenings on BBC One, according to The Sun.

Similar to The Traitors, the show will weave a web of mystery, intrigue, and betrayal, with contestants competing in games and challenges to build up a cash pot.

However, the amount they end up taking home will depend entirely on who they can trust – and who might betray them at the last minute.

A TV insider told The Sun: ‘Although this is a different concept to The Traitors, it taps into many of its devious elements.’

The Inner Circle will mark Amanda’s first solo presenting gig for the BBC, following the success of her home renovation series with Alan Carr.

Filming is reportedly set to begin this spring, with the show potentially airing later this year.

Contestants will have their general knowledge and strategic thinking tested, but the twist is that they must form alliances to win the prize.

However, they won’t know whether those alliances will hold, or whether they’ll be stabbed in the back.

The show will initially feature members of the public, with a celebrity version expected to follow later.

MailOnline has contacted the BBC for comment.

It comes after more than seven million Brits tuned in to watch the finale of The Traitors earlier this month – smashing records on the way to its explosive climax.

The episode was watched live by an average audience of 7.4million people as project manager Jake Brown and Leanne Quigley triumphed as faithfuls, taking home a prize pot of £94,600.

The show, filmed at Ardross Castle near Inverness, involves ‘faithfuls’ attempting to banish ‘traitors’ – fellow contestants who are scheming to eliminate the others without getting caught in order to take home as much as £120,000.

But in a change from the format of the first two series’ of the show, players no longer reveal whether they were faithfuls or traitors during the finale – adding extra tension throughout the nail-biting episode.

The viewing figures only include viewers who watched as the programme aired and do not include those watching on BBC iPlayer.

Meanwhile, the BBC said around 4.8million tuned into an extended episode of The Traitors: Uncloaked discussion podcast, which was broadcast across BBC One and the BBC Sounds listening app.

Last year an average of 5.5million watched British army engineer – and traitor – Harry Clark walk away with a prize of £95,150 after deceiving his friend Mollie Pearce into believing he was on her side.
