Louis Walsh bravely agreed to tell his side of the story in a new tell-all Boyzone documentary, despite undergoing chemotherapy.

The music mogul, who founded the Boyzone in 1993 but has been at war with them for over a decade, took part in the filming of the series while he was receiving treatment for a rare type of blood cancer.

A source close to the 72-year-old star: ‘Louis was really ill at the time, but made the effort to appear on the programme.

‘He was having chemo for his blood cancer, so wasn’t looking his best and it really took it out of him.

‘You will see in the documentary that he complains he is tired, but when Louis makes a commitment he stands by it.’

He had Waldenstrom’s Macroglobulinemia, a rare type of blood cancer, but has since been given the all clear after receiving treatment in Dublin.

The music manager previously admitted being diagnosed with cancer left him in ‘shock’ and gave him a ‘reality check’.

He continued: ‘It did affect me mentally, I got to be honest with you. [Points to his head] it’s just up here, even when I go past a hospital I almost get sick.

‘It’s all gone, I’m fine. It was just the shock of being sick and that word…nobody wants that word.

‘I have it blocked out, a reality check, you see so many people sick and it’s terrible.

‘In my world it was all about pop music and all that. I didn’t think of anybody getting sick or anything like that. And that was like wow reality check, you’re in the real world.’

In the Sky documentary Boyzone: No Matter What, Ronan Keating complains that the Irish manager ‘knew how to hurt me, vicious, f****** b***** horrible things. He tried to ruin me and my career.’

Louis responds by saying ‘Ronan was a big middle of the road artist, he appealed to older women, that was his market, that was his line. He said he didn’t want to be a karaoke artist – that shocked me.’

Discussing the moment Ronan fired him as manager, Louis shared: ‘I always told him the truth, you’re a lucky f*****. There was a divorce, I called him talentless and things.’

Boyzone sH๏τ to fame in 1993 after the group was created by Louis.

The bandwas originally made up of Shane Lynch, Ronan Keating, Stephen Gately, Keith Duffy, Richard Rock and Mark Walton.

Richard and Mark left and were later replaced by Mikey Graham.

Boyzone were together between 1993 and 2000 and later reunited in 2007 until 2019.
