Cindy Crawford was every inch the doting mother as she cheered on her daughter Kaia Gerber for her performance in a production of Evanston Salt Costs Climbing.

On Sunday, the 58-year-old model took to Instagram to share a images of her 23-year-old daughter acting on stage on the show’s opening night at the Rogue Machine Theatre in Los Angeles.

In the pH๏τos, Kaia was dressed as her character Jane Jr. as she acted alongside her costars Hugo Armstrong, Lesley Fera and Michael Redfield. She looked unrecognizable in a blue beanie, hoodie, sweat pants and winter socks while reading off her lines.

‘So proud to see @kaiagerber in Evanston Salt Costs Climbing by @warbery at the @roguemachinetheatre,’ the mother-of-two captioned the post, commending her mini-me.

‘Ever since her first appearance in a local children’s theater production of Wizard of Oz (where she played Auntie Em *and* tree #2! ) — Kaia has been fearless on stage. What a treat it is to see her doing what she loves alongside this incredible cast! Bravo!’ she gushed.

The production of Evanston Salt Costs Climbing is currently running at the Rogue Machine Theatre until Sunday, March 9, but tickets are sold out until the Friday, February 7 showing. General admission is priced at $60.

Cindy also gave fans a peek at the show’s playbill, proudly showing off her daughter’s biography on the cast page. She also shared an image of Kaia and her costars posed together after the show.

Despite establishing herself as a model who has worked extensively for some of the most prestigious fashion houses, Kaia is no stranger to taking her talents in stage and in front of a camera.

The daughter of Rande Gerber appeared in several acting projects, including: American Horror Stories (2021), American Horror Story: Double Feature (2021), Bottoms (2023) and most recently Palm Royale (2024). 

Discussing her lead role in the latest production with Vogue in November, Kaia said that ‘acting is a way for me to be an eternal student.’

‘So [acting] such a privileged thing, but I have fallen back in love with modeling because of it.’

She also revealed that she initially thought ‘no one would ever’ hire her to star in Evanston Salt Costs Climbing — which is her first professional theatrical role.

After reading the script, she thought: ‘No one would ever cast me in this. They would never. But I feel so connected to [Jane Jr.] and it’s sad to me that no one would ever see me as this girl I have so much in common with.’ 

And back in 2023, she opened up to FACES about having been in acting school prior to beginning her modeling career at age 10 in 2011. She said that both have helped her become more confident and open-minded.

‘Before I even thought about modeling, I was already acting at school. It helped me a lot to be more confident and open-minded and to get used to speaking in front of people and especially in front of the camera,’ she told the magazine.

‘When I was modeling, I learned to slip into different characters and transform myself within a very short time,’ Kaia continued. ‘The longer I pursued acting, the better I learned to completely forget about the camera.’

She explained to the outlet that both modeling and acting have become an outlet for her to create art, which has become a ‘great gift’ for her.

When asked what she has learned from taking on both roles, Kaia said: ‘Appreciating every moment when I can do what I love.’
