Ricki Lake thanks fans and friends who helped her family amid ‘nightmare’ after her home burned down in LA fires

Ricki Lake is sharing her graтιтude with those who have helped her out as she lives through a ‘nightmare’ scenario after her home in Malibu was burned to the ground in Los Angeles’ devastating fires.

The 56-year-old hairspray shared her thanks in an Instagram Live video on Saturday.

She thanked friends and fans who had reached out to help, but also several brands who had offered to replace essential items her family lost in the Pacific Palisades fire.

‘It’s so weird to be in a place of need. I am such an independent person, I’ve been taking care of my own since [I was] 18 years old,’ she said in the clip.

‘I don’t come from money, I don’t come from any handout or nepotism,’ she declared. ‘I just built this life for myself and my husband and my kids. It’s just so weird to have it be gone in one event.’

Lake appeared to film the clip from a friend’s home, where she has been staying since she was forced to evacuate her home.

She thanked several brands and also tagged them in her caption.

The list included multiple clothing, wellness and skincare companies, including OSEA Skincare, Kroma Wellness, Héilo Skin Care, Ped Shoes, Hårklinikken and the chef Chariya Leeds, among others.

‘I can’t even wrap my head around what happened and where we fell short … it’s a very strange time to be alive,’ she mused. ‘I really am grateful to everyone who reached out to me.’

She also asked fans to keep her family and others who had lost their homes in their thoughts as they navigated the ‘nightmare of having to rebuild our lives.’

However, she clarified that she was ‘going to be OK’ and she declared herself ‘one of the lucky ones’ because her home was insured.

‘It doesn’t replace what was lost, but we are going to create a new magical spot,’ she said on an optimistic note.

The former talk show host went on to encourage fans to look back through her posts to see what she had lost in the blaze, and she joked that she was getting ‘drunk’ on TikTok and ‘self medicating.’

‘I’m doing it for fun, just to lighten the load because it’s really heavy when I put my head down at night. It’s just really, really a lot to take in,’ she added.

Ricki got an extra shock earlier this month when she looked back on a clip from last year in which a psychic appeared to predict that her home would be destroyed.

She shared a clip from October in which she had been a guest on Live From The Other Side With Tyler Henry.

In the clip, Henry said, ‘If there was a loss of material objects from a fire and water, that’s the kind of weird distinction — it’s two separate things…

‘So we’re going to end up finding there’s a story, where like, there was a house fire or something along those lines,’ he continued.

The television psychic added, ‘There’s just something about watching water seep into a place that it shouldn’t and damaging things.’

Ricki’s mouth dropped open in shock in the video, though Henry’s prediction would only be half accurate, as water doesn’t appear to have played a part in the destruction of her home.

The regular John Waters collaborator lived at her now-destroyed home with her husband Ross Burningham, whom she tied the knot with in 2022.

She also has two sons, Milo and Owen, whom she shares with her ex-husband Rob Sussman.
