Steven Gerrard has revealed a huge milestone for his family, announcing that his youngest son, Lio, has taken part in his very first football tournament. 

The heartwarming update comes just weeks after Gerrard’s daughter Lilly-Ella shared the news that she’s expecting her first child.

The former Liverpool captain, who often gives fans a glimpse into his personal life, took to social media to highlight the special moment. 

Sharing a post from his wife Alex’s Instagram story, Steven showed Lio heading off to the tournament. 

Alex captioned the pH๏τo: ‘Off on his first footy tournament,’ complete with a football and plane emoji.

Lio, now 7, has turned heads with his football skills since a video of him playing went viral last year, sparking speculation that he could follow in his dad’s footsteps.

Meanwhile, the Gerrard family is also gearing up for another big moment as Steven prepares to become a grandad for the first time. 

Earlier this month, his eldest daughter Lilly-Ella, 20, revealed she’s expecting a baby with boyfriend Lee Byrne, 23, the son of jailed Irish gangster Liam Byrne. 

She shared a sweet post on Instagram, writing: ‘Our little secret. The best news, mini us is on the way.’

Steven, who turns 45 this year, was quick to celebrate the news. In the comments, he wrote: ‘We can’t wait. Great news and congratulations. We love you.’

The footballer and wife Alex are parents to four children: Lilly-Ella, 20, Lexie, 18, Lourdes, 13, and Lio, 7. 

While Steven has taken up a coaching role with Saudi club Al Ettifaq, the family opted to live in nearby Bahrain rather than Saudi Arabia.

Professionally, Steven is facing a tough season in his managerial career after a rocky start with Al Ettifaq, but the family celebrations have given the Liverpool icon plenty to smile about off the pitch.

Lilly-Ella has been dating Lee since late 2022, with Byrne previously calling her ‘the best person he’s ever met.’

Lee is the son of Kinahan Cartel gangster Liam Byrne, currently serving a five and a half year prison sentence for a plot to stockpile a stash of machine guns.

Ipswich Crown Court heard how Byrne and colleague Shaun Kent planted a haul of automatic weapons in a bid to help Kavanagh dupe the authorities.

Kavanagh, Byrne’s brother-in-law, was hoping to lead the National Crime Agency, Britain’s FBI, to the guns in a bid to reduce his sentence in a drug conspiracy case.

The staggering haul, imported from Holland, included the Skorpion, the type of automatic weapon used to murder Ashley Dale and Ellie Edwards on Merseyside.

Liam’s son Lee, celebrated the sentencing with a ‘get in there’ adding ‘I love you da. See you soon.’

And Lilly followed with a snap with her beau declaring her love for him.

The couple became an item after Lee moved into a gated community in Freshfield, one of Merseyside’s more desirable post codes. 

The Byrne and Gerrard families are said to have bonded since the young couple began dating, with Lee describing Alex Gerrard, Steven’s stunning wife, as his second mum.

There is no suggestion that Lee or any member of the Gerrard family are involved in crime.

It costs around £10,000 per month and comes with its own swimming pool, tennis court and games room and is in a compound behind a high gate.

His three youngest children with Alex are enrolled at Bahrain’s most exclusive English language school, which is in the world’s top 100 and where fees are almost £11,000 per year each.

As part of his contract, Gerrard and his family have also been given free membership of the country’s two most exclusive health clubs which are based at the luxurious Four Seasons H๏τel and the Ritz Carlton H๏τel.
