Scarlett Johansson has started to talk to her 10-year-old daughter about the nuances of dating.

The 40-year-old actress co-hosted Today with Jenna and Friends this week, and on Tuesday’s episode she shared that recently explained the concept of ‘ghosting’ to her child Rose.

Johansson, who is married to Colin Jost, said the topic came up when Rose shared that she quit talking to a boy who had taken interest in her.

‘I just had this conversation with my 10-year-old daughter about ghosting because there was this little boy that liked her, and then she wasn’t feeling the same,’ she said. 

‘She just stopped talking to him straight up and he felt terrible. And I was telling her… I introduced the ghosting concept.’

The Iron Man star added: ‘It really makes the other person feel terrible about themselves. It kind of sets them on this spiral.’

The mother-of-two, who shares three-year-old son Cosmo with Jost, confessed to being a ghoster in the past, admitting, ‘I hate confrontation.’

She said she’d prefer be dumped because ghosting someone is ‘awful’ and leaves the other person with unresolved feelings.

‘Honestly being ghosted is awful because you’re just left with no answers at all and you’re thinking, “Oh my god, did I do something?” It haunts you for years,’ the star explained.

Continuing to dish on her personal life, on Wednesday’s episode of the NBC morning show, Scarlett made a rare comment about her twin brother Hunter.

Discussing how hard it was to find souvenirs with their names inscribed on them as children, she shared: ‘A couple of years ago, we were in Montauk out in Long Island and we were at one of those surf shop places, and there were two mini keychain surfboards.

‘One said Scarlett, and then we found Hunter, and I legit think we cried.’

She recalled, ‘We bought them and we looked at each other and it was like, “They see us!”‘

She then joked that their reaction was overly dramatic.

While some social media users questioned Scarlett’s unexpected stint on Today, speculating that she might be ‘short on pocket money,’ an insider revealed that’s not the case.

Speaking exclusively to DailyMail.com, the person close to the situation said Scarlett ‘jumped at the chance’ to work with Jenna, adding that she was eager to be an interviewer given that she is usually the interview subject.

Earlier this month the source said, ‘Scarlett is looking forward to co-hosting the Today show in a few weeks because she thinks it will be a lot of fun.

‘She usually goes through the news with her husband Colin Jost so he can be ready for [SNL’s] Weekend Update, and she thought that it would be fun to live on the other side of it all as she is usually the one in the news or being interviewed.’
