Days after his ‘train wreck’ performance at Donald Trump’s inauguration, Billy Ray Cyrus has announced he is collaborating with his son Braison Cyrus on new music.
In an Instagram Story post, 30-year-old Braison posted a black and white image with his parent and wrote, ‘I’ve spent this past year getting to know my dad better than I ever have.
‘It’s a rare opportunity to make something this special and tell my dad’s story through music. Can’t wait to finally share it.’
Elsewhere in the post, he said, ‘After he spent a week in the hospital in the fall, I’m grateful that my dad is happy, healthy, and ready to make this record.’
It also comes after the 62-year-old country crooner’s 35-year-old son Trace made a public plea for him to get help.
Trace’s Instagram post shared, ‘You’re not healthy, Dad & everyone is noticing it.’

In addition to Braison and Trace, Billy shares daughters Brandi, 37, Miley, 31, and Noah, 25, with ex-wife Tish Cyrus.
Brandi and Trace are Tish’s kids from a past relationship, whom Billy adopted.
In a press release shared on Friday, Braison said about his father: ‘I’ve heard stories, jokes and songs that I don’t think anyone else has.
‘It’s an opportunity to tell my dad’s story through music and I’m fortunate to be able to take it. Music, stories and family are the most important things to my dad so to bring the two together is a full circle endeavor.’
Part of the statement, shared by People, included a quote from the patriarch that he’s ‘so proud to lean into the music’ with Braison.
‘This is art imitating life, imitating art. It starts and ends with art. Braison is very talented and ‘25 is his year. I’m glad to be a part of it.
‘This record is gonna be special. I’m gearing up for what will be the journey of a lifetime,’ the Achy Breaky Heart hitmaker noted.
The 2025 album, which does not yet have a release date, will be Billy’s first project since 2019’s The SnakeDoctor Circus.
Billy and Braison’s upbeat press release marks a sharp contrast from Trace’s Instagram post shared just two days earlier, in which he said frankly, ‘You’re not healthy, Dad & everyone is noticing it’

Cyrus said he experienced ‘technical difficulties’ as he performed at Trump’s Liberty Ball on Monday, leaving him to sing a cappella.
It came after he feigned a performance of Lil Nas X’s smash single Old Town Road, which he joined for the remix in 2019, as the full music video and audio played for the audience.
Following the wonky ordeal, his ex-wife Firerose spoke out via Page Six, addressing her former spouse’s behavior.
‘What’s being seen in public now reflects much of what I experienced in private during our relationship,’ the Australian singer revealed.
‘It’s very sad to see those same struggles continue for him, but I’m glad the truth is coming to light — for his potential good because healing is only possible when you confront the truth and accept there’s a problem,’ she told the outlet.

In his lengthy and emotional Instagram post earlier this week, Trace wrote to his father: ‘Since my earliest memories all I can remember is being obsessed with you and thinking you were the coolest person ever.
‘I wanted to be just like you. The day you adopted me was the happiest day of my life.
‘Sadly the man that I wanted so desperately to be just like I barely recognize now. It seems this world has beaten you down and it’s become obvious to everyone but you.
‘You may be upset with me for posting this but I really could care less at this point. Me and the girls have been genuinely worried about you for years but you’ve pushed all of us away.’
The musician said sister Noah has ‘desperately’ wanted Billy Ray ‘to be part of her life’, but claimed their dad hasn’t ‘been there for her.’
He continued: ‘That’s your baby girl. She deserves better. Somehow just like me she still idolizes you though.’
He said Billy Ray’s children are ‘all hanging on to memories of the man we once knew and hoping for the day he returns.’
