Wicked was one of the biggest winners when the Oscar nominations were announced with 10 nominations, one of which was the first for Ariana Grande.
The 31-year-old plays Galinda in the long-awaited adaptation of the Broadway sensation, which became a box office marvel as well.
The musical has taken in over $710 million at the worldwide box office and will now be vying for Best Picture as well, with Grande’s co-star Cynthia Erivo earning her third nomination.
After the nominations were announced, actress Jennifer Coolidge offered praise on her Instagram story.
Coolidge, 63, shared an image of Grande and a graphic showcasing Wicked’s 10 Oscar nominations along with a heartfelt message.
‘When I was watching @wickedmovie for the first time, I knew a million great things were going to happen for @arianagrande because of her performance… and here’s one of them,’ Coolidge began.

Grande was nominated in the Best Actress in a Supporting Role category for the 97th Academy Awards.
She’ll be vying for the statuette against Monica Barbaro (A Complete Unknown), Felicity Jones (The Brutalist), Isabella Rossellini (Conclave) and Zoe Saldaña (Emilia Perez).
The actress herself took to Instagram on Thursday morning to share her graтιтude for the nomination, along with childhood snaps and videos.
‘Picking my head up in between sobs to say thank you so much to @theacademy for this unfathomable recognition. I cannot stop crying, to no one’s surprise,’ she began.
‘I’m humbled and deeply honored to be in such brilliant company and sharing this with tiny ari who sat and studied Judy Garland singing Somewhere Over the Rainbow just before the big, beautiful bubble entered,’ she added.
‘I’m so proud of you, tiny. Thank you again, from the bottom of my heart, for this acknowledgement @theacademy,’ she added.

Grande will return as Galinda in Wicked: For Good, slated for release in theaters November 21.
