Ariana Grande stuns in an elegant floral dress as she appears on Graham Norton Show hours after landing her first Oscar nomination for Wicked

She admitted she ‘couldn’t stop crying’ after receiving her first ever Oscar nomination.

So it was no surprise that Ariana Grande was in high spirits as she made an appearance on The Graham Norton Show hours after the Academy Awards shortlist was revealed.

The singer, 31, landed a nod for Best Supporting Actress for her acclaimed performance as Glinda in Wicked.

Gracing Graham’s famous sofa in an elegant floral dress, Ariana joined fellow guests Will Ferrell, Reese Witherspoon, Don Gilet and Olly Alexander for the show, which will air on Friday.

The star channelled her off-screen alter-ego Glinda in a stunning dress with a silver sequinned bodice, that flowed into a blue floral skirt.

After her nomination was announced, Ariana took to Instagram with a lengthy note, while sharing a pH๏τo of herself as a child in a Dorothy from Wizard Of Oz costume.

‘Picking my head up in between sobs to say thank you so much to @theacademy for this unfathomable recognition,’ she began.

‘I cannot stop crying, to no one’s surprise.

‘I’m humbled and deeply honored to be in such brilliant company and sharing this with tiny ari who sat and studied Judy Garland singing Somewhere Over the Rainbow just before the big, beautiful bubble entered. i’m so proud of you, tiny.

‘Thank you again, from the bottom of my heart, for this acknowledgement @theacademy.

‘Thank you @jonmchu for taking this chance on me and for being the most unbelievably brilliant leader, human being, and most fierce friend. i am so deeply proud of my beautiful Wicked family.

‘I am so proud of my Elphie, my sister, my dear @cynthiaerivo. your brilliance is never ending and you deserve every flower (tulip) in every garden. i love you unconditionally, always.

‘I don’t quite have all my words yet, i’m still trying to breathe. but thank you. oh my goodness, thank you. Universal, Marc, my family, my heart.

‘Lemons and melons and pears, oh my.’

Wicked landed 10 nominations in total, marking a significant milestone for the Broadway adaptation, including a Best Leading Actress nod for star Cynthia Erivo.

However, Cynthia will battle it out with Demi Moore (The Substance), Mikey Madison (Anora), Karla Sofía Gascón (Emilia Pérez), and Fernanda Torres (I’m Still Here) to take home the trophy.

Another Brit receiving a nod on Thursday afternoon was Ralph Fiennes for Best Actor in a Leading Role, after he transformed into into Cardinal Lomeli for Conclave.

Also nominated in the category are Adrien Brody (The Brutalist),Timothee Chalamet (A Complete Unknown), Colman Domingo (Sing Sing), and Sebastian Stan (The Apprentice).

However, one British star who was noticeably missing from the catgory was Daniel Craig, who was snubbed as he missed out on a nomination for his performance in Queer.

It comes after the British music legend celebrated his ninth Official Number 1 album with Diamonds earlier this month.

Elsewhere, the annual ceremony will see Wicked, Dune: Part Two, Emilia Perez, Anora, The Brutalist, A Complete Unknown, Conclave, I’m Still Here, Nickel Boys and The Substance battle it out for Best Picture.

And Spanish movie Emilia Perez dominated nominations with 13 nods including Best Picture, International Feature Film, Original Score, Adapted Screenplay, and Actress in a supporting role.

The nominations for the upcoming Oscars were finally revealed after being postponed amid the devastating Los Angeles wildfires.

Comedian and actors Rachel Sennott and Bowen Yang are currently announcing the nominations during a live presentation from the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Los Angeles.

The upcoming 97th Academy Awards are still set to take place on March 2 – and will be hosted by comedian and TV personality, Conan O’Brien.

The Graham Norton Show airs at 11:05pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
