Mary Cosby revealed that Rihanna personally reached out after her son Robert Jr. admitted to drug use in an emotional RHOSLC episode that aired late last year in November.

The TV personality, 52, learned that her son, 21, had been using drugs since he was 16 in a raw moment, and he also told his mother that she was the only reason he didn’t kill himself.

During a recent interview with Vulture, Cosby reflected on the episode and how her castmates also got in touch after the episode premiered.

‘I heard from all of [the cast] – I even heard from Britani [Bateman]. Lisa [Barlow] was the only one that didn’t reach out, and that’s why I said I felt she’s kind of the person that is a little bit happy when other people are going through something.’

‘But everyone else and even other Housewives reached out to me. Even Rihanna reached out to me!’ the reality star continued.

Mary further told the outlet, ‘I was happy I did it after I received the way the people accepted it and loved it.’

The RHOSLC star also shared that the Grammy winner had reached out to her on other occasions as well. 

‘She reached out to us when the show aired and told us she loved us,’ Cosby expressed.

‘And then on Christmas Day, she said, “Merry Christmas, and I love you and Robert Jr.” I feel like if you can reach people of that caliber, you’re doing something right, you know what I mean?’ 

During the November episode, Mary had approached her son who was living with her at home along with his wife, Alexiana. 

He admitted to taking a number of different drugs – including cocaine and Xanax -since he was 16 and revealed he also suffered with suicidal thoughts. 

Towards the end of the heartbreaking conversation, Robert Jr. said, ‘I just barely started being happy again,’ to which his mother replied with, ‘Please, baby, recognize it, own it, and change it. Because you can.’ 

In regards to the moment in the episode, Cosby gave an update to Vulture and expressed, ‘I’m actually doing great. I’m getting a lot of love.’

Her son went to rehab, which she revealed as she appeared on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen last month in December.

‘He did go to rehab. He stayed for a month. He completed it. He did an excellent job. He came out a new person.’ 

The reality star further gushed that Robert Jr. ‘is doing so good. I am so proud of him. So proud of him.’ 

Rihanna previously revealed that she was a big fan of the Real Housewives franchise while talking to E! News last year in October 2024. 

‘Always Salt Lake City. They had such a swinging opening season that knocked me off my feet,’ the Diamonds hitmaker shared. 

‘Because it takes a while to get used to or know who the characters are really, truly. They just knocked it out of the park. You never know what’s coming wit them.’ 

The mother-of-two also told the publication that her favorite housewife was RHONJ star Jenna Lyons. ‘I don’t want to be generalized, but I love her!’

Rihanna has been keeping busy and over the past weekend, she sparked new music rumors when she was seen heading to a recording studio in NYC at 2:30 a.m.

The performer bundled up in the chilly weather wearing a blue hoodie as well as a pair of dark gray trousers. 

She layered the look with a brown coat that contained a fuzzy trim and also slipped into a pair of blue sneakers.

And this week on Tuesday, her partner A$AP Rocky kicked off his criminal trial in L.A. on charges of firing a gun at a former friend outside of a H๏τel in Hollywood in 2021.

The rapper and his legal team rejected a second plea deal, with his lawyer Joe Tacopina claiming that the gun involved in the incident was actually a ‘prop gun.’

A separate plea deal had been presented last week, which was also rejected by Rocky and his legal team. 

At the time, Tacopina told DailyMail.com that the music artist ‘did not commit a crime’ and said the LA District Attorney’s case against Rocky was ‘fundamentally weak.’

Judge Mark S. Arnold, who has been ᴀssigned to the case, recently made an attempt to determine if Rihanna and A$AP Rocky were married.

When the judge questioned, ‘Are they legally married somewhere then?,’ Tacopina answered, ‘I don’t know.’ Due to the unknown marriage status, the judge said that the prosecution will call them ‘partners or significant others.’

A separate insider also told DailyMail.com that Rihanna is ‘terrified’ that the rapper could possibly be facing prison time.

‘Rihanna and A$AP have been on a serious do-good / be-loved PR mission recently, which is completely opposite of how they like to live their lives…’

‘She is terrified of him going to prison. She has two kids at home that she does not want to raise on her own,’ the source added.
