Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx’s Back In Action began streaming on Netflix days ago as critics and audiences have come away with seemingly different opinions on the flick.
The film – which was Diaz’s comeback film after a decade away from acting – has received a 23 percent Tomatometer score on review aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes with 57 reviews from critics.
However, audiences seem to have a different feeling about the flick as it earned 63 percent on the Popcornmeter with over 500 ratings.
Legendry Chicago Sun-Times critic Richard Roeper blasted the film giving it a 2.5 out of four writing: ‘Back In Action follows a distressingly familiar pattern, with every stunt-heavy confrontation accompanied by a needle drop of an old standard.’
On the other side of that, one of the many audience reviewers who goes by Akaycia A praised the film and even took aim at those who criticized the film as they wrote: ‘Why are people such haters? I thought the movie was great.
‘Nothing groundbreaking, but I loved the character interactions, and more than anything, I was thrilled to see Cameron Diaz back on my screen.

‘She had great chemistry with Jamie and I hope they make a part 2. Personally, this is something I can see myself watching more than once. Great job on this one.’
The film stars Cameron and Jamie alongside an all-star cast including 77-year-old Glenn Close.

Cameron had last starred in the 2014 movie Annie before taking a step back from acting to focus on her family and business ventures.
The Netflix movie, which was released on January 17, follows Emily (Cameron) and Matt (Jamie), two former CIA agents who have given up their life of espionage and action in order to settle down, start a family, and live a normal life.
However, things don’t go so smoothly for them as their idenтιтies become compromised and they are forced to fight and run in order to protect those closest to them.
The new action comedy, directed by Seth Gordon, 48, serves as a comeback for both Jamie and Cameron as Jamie suffered a stroke in 2023 and Cameron quit acting for family reasons in 2014.
Previously Cameron told Empire she returned to acting purely to work with Jamie again following Any Given Sunday and Annie.
She said: ‘I thought that if I was going to come back and do a movie, the only person I’d come back and do it with would be this guy (Foxx).’

‘Seriously. I had other opportunities along the way and I was always saying “No. I’m not doing it, I’ve told you… What? Jamie asked? Jamie? Oh, I can do a movie with Jamie!”‘
The cast list for the film also includes Kyle Chandler, Glenn, Andrew Scott, Jamie Demetriou, Jamie Demetriou, and Rylan Jackson.
Cameron officially retired from her Hollywood career in 2018, before being lured back by her close friend Jamie to star alongside him in the action comedy.
But her comeback project was thrown into turmoil in 2023 when it was reported that Jamie ‘had an absolute meltdown’ on the UK set of the movie, which led to the firing of three people.
And in March 2023, a source close to the star revealed that – while Cameron didn’t have any issues with Jamie – she likely won’t return to the world of film after this movie, because she’s had a hard time being away from her family and hates the ‘drama and confrontation’ that so often erupts on movie sets.
Speaking exclusively to DailyMail.com the source said: ‘These back-to-back 10-hour workdays have been a lot on her and she hates being away from Raddix.’
They added: ‘Cameron loves being a mom more than anything in the world.’

‘She hates drama and confrontation. This is why she retired from the business in the first place,’
‘She has already proven herself in the industry and has nothing left to prove to anyone.’
Cameron famously walked away from Hollywood in 2018 to spend more time with her rocker husband Benji, Madden 45.
The two welcomed their daughter in December 2019 and have been incredibly private about their lives as parents to their three-year-old.
