Colin Jost is opening up about his wife Scarlett Johansson’s stunned reaction to a nasty joke about her private parts on Saturday Night Live.
The 42-year-old comedian has hosted SNL’s Weekend Update since 2014 alongside Michael Che.
One of their traditions is a Joke Swap, where they will read jokes they have never seen before that the other wrote, to get each other to crack up laughing.
During the show’s Christmas episode on December 21, Jost read a joked Che wrote about Costco removing their roast beef sandwich from their menu that Jost read on air and stunned both Johansson (who was in the studio) and Jost.
‘I’ve been eating roast beef every night since my wife had the kid,’ Jost said, as they cut to a stunned Scarlett backstage who said, ‘Oh my God.’
Jost appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday, where Fallon asked if he was ‘in trouble’ with his wife.

‘I’m in trouble I think with a lot of people,’ he said as the audience laughed, before he added, ‘Scarlett was genuinely so shocked.’
He added he was ‘obviously surprised’ since he didn’t see the joke beforehand, but revealed show staffers gave Scarlett a bit of a heads up.

‘But they gave her a heads up. They were like, “Hey, would you be okay if Michael made a a little, like, kind of vagina joke at some point?”‘ Jost revealed.
‘She was like, “Sure, you know, whatever, I’m open to it,”‘ Jost said, adding he ‘didn’t know where it ws going, and then the graphic came up for Arby’s.’
‘And so, Scarlett is backstage like, “Oh, my god! That’s what it is?”‘ Jost said, as Fallon said it was a, ‘legitimate live moment.’
The host added, ‘You weren’t acting at all,’ as Jost admitted, ‘I was not. I can’t act that well.’
Fans reacted quickly online, with one social media user theorizing, ”Collin’s one joke away from a divorce.’
‘Lol I bet he’s now friends with the couch,’ they continued in the viral thread.

The annual joke swap proved quite controversial, as SNL viewers flocked to social media to react to Colin’s comments

However, plenty of fans were quick to jump to Colin’s defense, pointing out that his co-host wrote the jokes not him.
‘I mean he didn’t write them,’ one person pointed out.
Another agreed, ‘He’s not the one writing the joke so he’s good.
‘Scarlett knows it’s joke swap don’t all comes from Michael and they’re all good.’
Someone else said Colin’s ‘co-workers were trying end his marriage.’
