Laura Dern remembered her dear friend David Lynch, who died last Wednesday after suffering from emphysema for several years.
Taking to Instagram, the 57-year-old actress shared an old pH๏τo of her and Lynch with a brief, heartfelt caption.
‘Happy birthday, tidbit. I will love and miss you every day for the rest of my life,’ she said in the poignant note.
The image showed the longtime friends sitting on a couch, happily gazing at each other as they appeared to be in conversation.
The post has so far collected more than 32,000 likes from Dern’s 1.2 million followers.

Dern collaborated with Lynch throughout the director’s illustrious, decades-long career.
He also frequently worked with other notable stars including Harry Dean Stanton, Naomi Watts, Justin Theroux and Isabella Rossellini.

Dern was cast in David’s in 1986 mystery thriller Blue Velvet when she was just 17-years-old.
They reunited for 1990’s Wild Heart before teaming up again for Industrial Symphony No. 1, a creative concert performance.
The Big Little Lies sensation would go on to appear in the renowned director’s Inland Empire in 2006 and later his 2017 revival of his series Twin Peaks.
The late filmmaker’s children honored his life in a social media statement shared over the weekend.
He shared Jennifer, 56, with ex-wife Peggy Lynch; Austin, 42, with ex-wife Mary Fisk; Riley, 33, with ex-wife Mary Sweeney; and Lula, 12, with ex-wife Emily Stofle.
His kids invited fans to join them in remembering their father, describing him as a ‘guiding light of creativity, love, and peace.’
‘On Monday, January 20th—what would have been his 79th birthday—we invite you all to join us in a worldwide group meditation at 12:00pm NOON PST for 10 minutes,’ the grieving siblings shared in a group statement on X and on their individual social media accounts.

‘Let us come together, wherever we are, to honor his legacy by spreading peace and love across the world,’ the memo said, as they invited others to, ‘Please take this time to meditate, reflect, and send positivity into the universe.’
The note ended, ‘Thank you for being part of this celebration of his life. Love, Jennifer, Austin, Riley and Lula Lynch.’
To announce his death last week, in a post shared on Facebook, his family wrote: ‘It is with deep regret that we, his family, announce the pᴀssing of the man and the artist, David Lynch.
‘We would appreciate some privacy at this time. There’s a big hole in the world now that he’s no longer with us.
‘But, as he would say, “Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.” It’s a beautiful day with golden sunshine and blue skies all the way.’
