Gareth Gates has revealed the heartbreaking moment his partner Allana Taylor was forced to step in after he was viciously bullied by a cruel group of women on holiday. 

The singer, 40 – who has a stammer – appeared on Loose Women on Monday and opened up to the panel about what happened. 

The Pop Idol winner appeared on the ITV show alongside the panel of Christine Lampard, Mariella Frostrup, Brenda Edwards and Myleene Klᴀss. 

Recalling the moment, Gareth said: ‘So unfortunately on the ships we had an incident, there was some women next door to our cabin, they learnt I was in that cabin, every time I went out on the balcony they started to mock my speech.  

‘By going G-G-G Gareth Gates or sing the song Cha-cha-cha changes. 

‘I’m very very used to that. I’ve had it my whole life.

‘But my other half, after two or three days of this, it got too much and so she went around.

‘She knocked on the door and said “please can you stop doing this”…

‘It was grown women doing it.

‘We all have banter among my friends. I take the micky out of myself, my speech, but in a closed group.  

‘I think knowing the person you’re mocking is able to hear it takes a different person.

‘Thankfully she was my knight and shining armor and they stopped.’ 

Gareth and Allana went Instagram official back in July 2023, after his split from ex Chloe McLennan. 

The couple met back in 2022 when they appeared in a pantomime of Jack and the Beanstalk.

The star also mentioned how he was also picked on as a child. 

He added: ‘I was badly bullied, often beaten because o my speech. 

‘In a weird way I’m thankful for that. 

‘It’s made me extremely resilient I can take a lot now because of that.

‘I certainly wouldn’t have won SAS without that.’ 

Myleene praised the singer and thanked him for sharing his experiences. 

Gareth said: ‘Interviews like that are my worst nightmare, I didn’t have too much sleep last night.

‘I’ve found over the years you’ve got to face the fear head on.

‘If you cower away it gets worse, the fear grows.

‘One of my proudest things I’ve achieved, I’ve heightened the awareness of stammering. 

‘Show to people that you have these things and affixions holding you back, you can be whoever you want to be.

‘If you persevere and have that resilience you can achieve anything.’
