Dancing On Ice has sparked a fresh fix row after fans ripped into the ‘baffling and unfair’ voting shake-up impacting the first elimination.
The ITV show returned to our screens last Sunday for its 17th series.
The first instalment of the skating compeтιтion saw one half of the famous faces perform – which consisted of Michaela Strachan, Sam Aston, Ferne McCann, Anton Ferdinand, Chris Taylor and Chelsee Healy.
This means that Mollie Pearce, Steve Redgrave, Charlie Brooks, Josh Jones and Dan Edgar will be performing this Sunday.
Last Sunday hosts Holly Willoughby and Stephen Mulhern revealed that there will be no skate off after all of the stars have performed – and one celebrity will be sent home.
It’s a huge change because usually the star who had the lowest score from the first batch would take on the weakest scorer from the second group of celebrities who had taken to the rink.
Dancing On Ice fans have all shared the same complaint over the new voting system
Judges Ashley Banjo, Oti Mabuse, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean returned to our screens last Sunday for the first episode
Many have taken to social media to share their confusion.
One pointed out: ‘I just can’t figure out how they do that fairly when one is a six-way vote and the other a five-way vote.’
A second said: ‘Baffling to axe the week two Skate Off considering how much padding was in episode 1 with an extra act, bigger opening number and T&D routine.’
While others took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to say the same thing.
A third tweeted: ‘How are the results working if there is no skate off till week 5?! Are we announcing half of the bottom two tonight and then the other next week and the one with the fewest votes from both weeks goes home?! #DancingOnIce.’
A fourth added: ‘So if the voting is open and no skate off what is happening in the last 10 mins of show.’
‘Why is there no skate off the first week,’ a fifth asked.
Another wrote: ‘If there is no skate off can we at least know the Bottom Two?! I swear Dancing On Ice loves to copy Dancing With The Stars in America #DancingOnIce.’

Last Sunday the celebrities ended up really impressing the judges with their skating moves.
Ashley Banjo, Oti Mabuse, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean awarded Michaela and her partner Mark Hanretty an incredible 30.5.
Coronation Street’s Sam shortly followed behind her with 27, while Ferne was given 26.5.
Chelsee landed at the bottom of the leaderboard with 22 points.
Earlier this week viewers the show faced viewer backlash after it’s launch episode on Sunday.
Fans claimed that the ending was too ‘abrupt’ due to the new format change.
After half of the celebrities took to the ice for the first time, with the other half due to perform next week, Torvill and Dean closed out the ITV show’s launch episode with a classic performance to Let The Good Times Roll.
The credits quickly followed with no results, after Stephen and Holly dropped the bombshell earlier in the show that there will be no Skate Off for the first two weeks of the show.
After everyone has performed, the couple with the fewest votes and lowest scores will be out straight away, with no chance to skate off next week.
Fans took to social media shortly after the programme ended to complain of the ‘rushed’ finish, writing: ‘I’m still convinced that #DancingOnIce needs to be on longer with less ads.
‘Back in the day it used to be 2 hours with minimal ads. Now it’s 90 mins with poor formatting and a high volume of ads. Tonight’s ending was terribly rushed and very abrupt! Change the format!’
‘WOW! That was a very abrupt ending! #DancingOnIce.’
‘No skate off so what is the point? #DOI #DancingOnIce.’
Dancing On Ice airs on ITV this Sunday from 6:30pm amd is available to stream on ITVX.
