Wendy Williams to open up about guardianships on The Breakfast Club in rare public appearance

Wendy Williams is preparing to make a rare public appearance for a conversation about an important topic on The Breakfast Club.

In an upcoming taping of the radio show scheduled for Thursday morning, the television personality, 60, will be discussing conservatorships and guardianships.

Charlamagne tha God, a co-host of the radio show, confirmed she would be appearing on the radio show to talk about her experience with conservatorships as she was placed under one in 2022.

Earlier this year, it was revealed that Williams — who clashed with her caretakers recently and was seen having a heated argument with them — was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia and aphasia.

Because of her diagnosis, she was declared ‘permanently incapacitated’ by her guardian.

In Charlamagne tha God’s Instagram post, he penned a caption about the systems, which he emphasized are ‘designed to preserve dignity’ and ‘not control.’

‘Conservatorships and guardianships should exist to empower, protect and support individuals — not to confine them in invisible prisons,’ the talk show host wrote.

‘Tomorrow morning on @breakfastclubam #WendyWilliams will remind us that these systems must be transparent, compᴀssionate, and designed to preserve dignity, not control. Let’s discuss.’

The interview comes weeks after Williams made a rare public appearance last month for a special occasion to support her family.

She was spotted supporting her son Kevin Hunter Jr. as he graduated from Florida International University.

Her outing came just weeks after she was declared ‘permanently incapacitated’ by her guardian.

In court documents filed by Sabrina Morissey in November 2024, Williams was described as being ‘cognitively impaired and permanently incapciitated’ after being diagnosed with early-onset dementia.

She has been under a legal guardianship since 2022.

Earlier this year, a source close to her family claimed they have ‘largely been denied contact’ with her by her guardian, per People.

The insider said her family is ‘rooting’ for her amid the court-ordered guardianship.

‘Wendy Williams’ family is unable to speak on her current condition and location due to ongoing litigation and the fact that they have largely been denied contact,’ the source told the outlet.

‘But they are all rooting and praying for Wendy and want to express their well wishes as she celebrates her 60th birthday.’

The insider added: ‘She was, is and always will be an icon.’
