James Van Der Beek shared his reaction to a series of AI-generated pH๏τos depicting a Dawson’s Creek reunion.
The actor, 47, was pictured with his fellow former co-stars Katie Holmes, 46, Joshua Jackson, 46, and Michelle Williams, 44, in a series of fake Christmas images posted on the90screek, a fan Instagram account for the ’90s show.
The holiday themed snaps featured the AI depictions of the actors posing together in a number of festive settings.
While most fans expressed disappointment that the pH๏τos were AI-generated and ‘got their hopes up’, James had a more positive response.
‘Cute!!!’ the actor — who’s been battling colorectal cancer — wrote, giving the snaps his seal of approval.
The AI images included a group pH๏τo of the cast gathered before a Christmas tree.

Van Der Beek starred as Dawson Leery on the teenage drama series from 1998 to 2003. The series ran for a total of six seasons on The WB network.
Holmes portrayed his childhood love, Joey Potter, while Jackson played their other friend and Joey’s true love, Pacey Witter.
Williams completed the core group as the rebellious Jen Lindley.
The show followed the group from high school through college in the sleepy town of Capeside.
The cast have enjoyed prior reunions in the past.
In 2018 they posed for Entertainment Weekly in honor of the 20th anniversary of the premiere.
At the time, Holmes told the publication: ‘I think we’ve all sort of seen each other over the years, but not everybody all together. And never for long enough.’
While James didn’t mind the AI-generated pH๏τos, a number of fans in the comments expressed their disappointment.

Despite not being real, there were some fans who found the AI-generated holiday pH๏τos heartwarming, with one commenting, ‘That’s the correct way to use AI.’
James’ sweet comment comes after he recently revealed that he was diagnosed with stage three colorectal cancer in August 2023.
James told People in November that he was undergoing treatment but didn’t divulge any details on it.
He added that he’s ‘cautiously optimistic’ during this ‘place of healing,’ and insisted that his ‘energy levels are great.’
Amid his battle with the illness, James marked Thanksgiving this week by sharing his graтιтude for his ‘super human’ wife Kimberly.
The pair married in 2010 and now live on a 36-acre Texas ranch with their six children -Olivia, 14, Joshua, 12, Annabel, 10, Emilia, eight, Gwendolyn, six, and Jeremiah, three.

‘It’s been a tough year… and I’m thankful for all of it. For the giant life re-direct cancer has placed in my path,’ he wrote beside an Instagram picture of him with his family.
‘For the gift of knowing what it feels like to have friends come through on such a profound level, and in ways I never would have been able to ask for had I not been going through it.’
He added: ‘I’m grateful for this new relationship I have to my body, and what I feed it. I’m grateful to each and every one of you who has reached out and sent good vibes and prayers. It all lands and makes a difference.’
James warmly wrote: ‘And I’m more grateful than ever to my super human wife who has shown up on levels I never knew possible. Who has shown me what unconditional love is and the magic that comes from that. I am in awe of you, @vanderkimberly.’
Of his children, he wrote: ‘And of course, I’m beyond thankful the little blond army of hearts who keep me present, active, and inspired just by being you. I love you guys beyond.’
