Dorinda Medley was unaware Sam Asghari was married to Britney Spears while filming season three of The Traitors.

Medley, 60, made the hilarious confession during an appearance on SiriusXM’s The Julia Cunningham Show, admitting she had ‘no idea’ who he was when they first met as contestants on the show.

She even offered him advice on his divorce, completely clueless that the woman he was splitting from was pop icon Spears, 43. 

Hilariously, Medley even asked Asghari, 30, what his spouse did for a living.

‘I had no idea who Sam was,’ Medley, who was eliminated on the second episode of the show, insisted. ‘I was advising him about how it is to go through a divorce and “‘What does your wife do?'”

It wasn’t until fellow contestant Britney Haynes clued her in that Dorinda learned.

“Dorinda, that is Britney Spears’ ex!”‘ Medley recalled Haynes telling her.

‘I had no idea! You know, I’m sort of one of these people that kind of, I’m very good at being in this world and very good at being not in this world and I think that’s how I’ve kept my sanity all these years. I get very present in whatever I’m doing.’

Cunningham asked: ‘Was Sam like, “Yeah, I signed my life away. It was a pretty quick, nuts and bolts divorce?”‘

‘No!’ Dorinda replied. ‘I was like, “Are you heartbroken?” and I’m like, “Oh my God, you’re young. You’ll meet someone again. I’m sure she was great.”‘

Medley recalled Haynes saying: ‘”What is wrong with you?”‘

Medley said she was ‘mothering’ Asghari as that’s a trait that comes ‘naturally’ to her. ‘I love to mother. I love to cook for people, take care of them, work them through their problems. That’s what comes very naturally to me,’ she explained.

‘I believe a meal can solve anything. Heartbreak? I’ll make you a lasagna. Lost? Don’t worry, I’ll make you a roast chicken. Loneliness? Don’t worry, I’ll make you a bowl of soup. I can solve anything with a little love in food!’ 

But as it turns out, Medley wasn’t the only season three contestant who wasn’t aware of who Asghari was. Wells Adams and Bob the Drag Queen have both since admitted they didn’t know of Asghari when they started the show.

‘I didn’t know Sam,’ Wells told Entertainment Weekly. ‘I know who Britney Spears is, but I don’t know some random ex of Britney Spears.’ 

Bob the Drag Queen revealed on a recent YouTube livestream: ‘I did not know this man was Britney Spears’ ex-husband. I don’t know him! I do not know this man!… But he’s nice, he’s a nice guy to me. He might not be nice, I don’t know. I can’t vouch for anything beyond that.’ 

Asghari’s divorce from Spears was finalized in May 2024, almost two years after they wed.
