Tens of thousands of residents have been forced to vacate their homes since the infernos sparked last Tuesday.
The death toll is currently at 25, and more than 40,000 acres have been scorched by the unprecedented flames.
Longoria’s new $1 million donation is from the Courage and Civility Award presented to her by Jeff Bezos last March.
Bezos’ annual monetary prize of $50 million is given to those who make substantial contributions to society.
Longoria has a decade to name a charity to which she’ll donate the money, and now she’s chosen LA’s fire recovery as the first recipient, per The Hollywood Reporter.
She will say more about her donation when she appears as co-host alongside Jenna Bush Hager on Jenna & Friends this Tuesday.
Following the co-hosting gig Eva will return to Los Angeles, where she will volunteer with Global Empowerment Mission and pay a visit to World Central Kitchen’s Eaton Fire operations.
The mother-of-one, who is married to movie producer José Bastón, fought back tears in an emotional video shared to Instagram in the wake of the fire devastation.

The former Desperate Housewives star revealed she has evacuated her home after receiving a warning while hosting friends who had already fled the threatening fires.
‘It’s been a crazy week. Devastating for so many people. So many friends who’ve lost a lot. It’s memories, things that people have worked really hard for,’ she said while getting choked up.
‘Anyways, we decided to evacuate because we were under a warning, and then we kept getting an alarm,’ she explained.

‘I know a lot of people weren’t so lucky. We’ve donated clothes, we literally emptied out my pantry to take down to all of the places that are accepting donations,’ she said to online viewers.
Eva also vowed to match up to $50,000 of donations made to the organization This is About Humanity.
The funds will go to essential workers and families impacted by the fires.
‘My heart breaks for the City of LA and the devastating fires that have affected so many lives. I’m personally matching $50k to @thisisabouthumanity’s efforts to support frontline essential workers, farm workers, day laborers and families impacted by these wildfires,’ she captioned the video.
She added, ‘I hope we can come together and support these resilient members of our community. Share, repost or donate if you can. Link in bio.’
