Pregnant Megan Fox and ex-fiancé Machine Gun Kelly have had several ups and downs since announcing her pregnancy — but living apart is nothing new.
“Megan and MGK never fully lived together throughout the duration of their relationship,” a source exclusively tells Us Weekly.
Fox, 38, bought her new house “on her own and wanted a new chapter,” the insider says, noting that the Transformers actress had been renting over the last year as she waited for “the right house.”
Prior to their most-recent split, which Us confirmed earlier this month, Fox was residing in a Malibu rental, per the source. Now, she is settled.
“Her new house is closer to her ex Brian Austin Green,” the insider tells Us, explaining that the location “makes it easier for them to coparent.” Fox and Green, 51, share three sons: Noah, 12, Bodhi, 10, and Journey, 8.
While Fox’s new pad coincides with her and Kelly’s breakup, the source claims that “the split had nothing to do with her purchasing a new house,” adding, “Megan has always liked her own space.”
Fox and Kelly (real name Colson Baker) met filming their 2021 movie Midnight in the Switchgrᴀss and went public with their romance in 2020 after she and Green announced their split in May of that year.
The “Bloody Valentine” singer proposed in January 2022, but the pair hit a few bumps in the road while wedding planning.
They were on and off over the past two years before Fox announced on November 11 that she is pregnant with her and Kelly’s first baby after previously suffering a miscarriage. The baby is the fourth child for the actress and the second for Kelly, who is also the father of daughter Casie, 15, whom he shares with Emma Cannon.
Us confirmed earlier this month that Fox and Kelly “broke up in late November” after “trying to make it work again after the pregnancy.” A source told Us at the time that the estranged couple were “too H๏τ-headed and fell back into their constant fighting.”
The insider explained that although they are “done for now,” Kelly and Fox “could very well be back together” at a later time.
Two days later, Fox’s ex-husband, Green, weighed in on the drama surrounding her relationship with Kelly. “He’s in his 30s right?” Green asked a TMZ reporter on December 12, referring to the musician. “But in your 30s, I don’t know, grow up. Like, you know she’s pregnant.”
“I just want the best for her. I want the best for the baby,” he continued. “I want the best for our kids.” (Outside of his and Fox’s three sons, Green shares son Kᴀssius, 22, with ex Vanessa Marcil and Zane, 2, with fiancée Sharna Burgess.)
While Green expressed frustration over Fox and Kelly’s relationship woes, Kelly has decided to take “some time away from Hollywood,” according to another source, who told Us the rocker “left California for a while.”
“Everything has been a lot lately and he’s been very anxious and wants to escape the whole situation and work on himself,” the insider continued. “At the moment, he realizes they are definitely over and he’s been very clear with friends about that.”
