Each year, Victoria’s Secret creates an outrageously expensive gem-laden bra and bestows the honour to wear it in the annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show upon one special model. This year, that model is Lily Aldridge, who has been one of the brand’s ‘Angel’ spokesmodels since 2010.
This year the Fantasy Bra and its matching detachable belt has a price tag of $2 million and is covered with over 6,500 precious gems, including diamonds, blue topaz, yellow sapphires and pink quartz, all set in 18-karat gold.
Named the Fireworks Fantasy bra, it will be worn by Aldridge during the ‘Fireworks’ section of the show, which will take place on November 10 in New York.
“I’m not scared, I’m super excited and I’m anxious to just get on the runway and wear it and be in that moment,” she tells PeopleStyle. “Some of the girls who have worn it in the past are just like, ‘Enjoy every moment of it.’ It’s such a special experience and I’m really excited.”
The Fantasy bra is a long held tradition; the first was created in 1996 and worn by Claudia Schiffer.
